RALEIGH, NC (WNCN) – Families are already planning Thanksgiving weekend. Many of them would have to drive to their destination.
While the country costs an average of $ 3.41 per gallon of gas, Gas Buddy oil analyst Patrick De Haan said the fill-in price will likely stay for much of 2022.
âIt’s not something you’re going to wake up to and at Christmas the prices are going to be a lot lower. This could be some sort of new upward trend in gas prices, âDe Haan said.
He offered three simple steps to save you money in the coming month.
The first is to plan ahead. There is nothing worse than finding out that you could have saved a few pennies per gallon by going to a gas station up the road.
âThere are so many different applications for buying and comparing gasoline prices. Download one of them to find out where those cheaper prices are, âDe Haan said.
Her second tip is to make sure you get something back.
“When you swipe your card, make sure you get some sort of discount, whether it’s a loyalty discount going to the same station, or potentially a credit card that offers a percentage discount. on gasoline purchases, âDe Haan said. .
The Gas Buddy card is linked to a checking account to save you up to 25 cents per gallon. Grocery stores often offer reward points that could be used towards your gasoline purchases.
De Haan said his third tip was probably the least popular: slow down.
âPeople are in a hurry, they are saving less fuel because they are stepping on the accelerator. It can also really slow down your fuel consumption, âsaid De Haan.
