Thursday Purse-Day!

Good morning everyone!  Happy Thursday!!!

i DO have a bag to show off today.   I did not take the photos myself b/c again….i’m LAZY.   But i think you might like the bag as much as I do today 🙂

Disclaimer:  the girl in the photo is SOOO not me.  I wish i had her body tho….

Is this CUTE???? Purple embossed Patent "leather". hahahaahThis is obviously NOT me. But look at how HUGE the bag is!!Imagine how much knitting will fit inside!

Cute huh?  It should fit lots and lots of knitting inside.  hahahahaa.   brilliant shiny purple w HK all over it!!  WhEEE!!

The baby shower gift was a huge HIT!  Mama-to-be loved it and so did all the other ppl at the shower that I did not know. haha.   Made me all warm and fuzzy inside.

I did make another pair of shoes for my friend’s daughter’s 2nd bday.  I made her a pair when she was born and mom/dad requested a new pair since she outgrew them.  I told them I was shocked that she barely outgrew them now.  She’s a bit wee I guess 🙂

Project:  Rosy Baby Booties
Yarn:  Cotton-Ease
Color:  Rose/golden rod
Amount Used:  bits of each color
Needle Size:  US4
Date Started:  May 1, 2011
Date Finished:  May 1, 2011

My mods:  I used bigger yarn and bigger needles than what the pattern called for since the child is 2 yrs old.  She can always grow into them. 🙂
The pattern calls for a 2-stitch I-Cord for the strap that goes around the button.  Nope.  I did a 20 st crochet chain and that was that.  simple, quick and easy.  and I just started the chain straight from the shoe rather than crocheting a chain and sewing it on.

That’s all I got for this week, y’all.  I havent’ been feeling that well this week and that turns into alot of nap time and just no knitting time for me.   I guess a realistic goal is one FO a week isn’t it?  hahahah.

have a great weekend everyone!!

Thursday No Purse-Day

I have no purse today, folks.  🙂  so sorry!

I’ve been kind of busy this week w/ work and other things.  I haven’t had that much time to knit/crochet.  This is becoming a common song and dance w/ me apparently.  I miss the days of being able to knit at work.  But I do enjoy the increase in salary more…so hmmm…. hahaha.

Not much to talk about.  no bag b/c I honestly think I’ve run out of bags.  I almost got a new one today.  Almost.  But I stopped myself.  As Janice says, I need another bag like I need another hole in my head.  I don’t need another hole in my head.   hahaha.

But I do have an FO to show off!

Oh wait.  I posted this information last week.  Eh.  Ok.  I cheated a bit.  I didn’t FINISH finish this until like Sunday when I was done w/ the ties.

Oh wait!  I made a hat to match the sweater.  ok.  hahaha.  show off time!

sith8 sith10 sith18 sith17 sith15 sith14 sith13

Cute eh? hahaha.  The tie I did not do I-cord…I decided to do a single crochet chain.  I made it a bit too long and it’s irritating me a bit.  But i should just let go and leave it alone.

For the hat i just cast on 72 sts and did seed stitch for 5 rows.  2 rows plain knitting, 1 eyelet row, 1 plain knitting row then began the lattice stitch pattern in the round until I had 5 repeats of it done.  Then I quickly decreased on every row.

Baby shower is on Sat.  just in the nick of time, eh? hahahaha.

have a great weekend everyone!!

Thursday Purse-Day!!

Hello All!  It’s Thursday and I DO have a purse today!

I got this gem on my Coach outlet outing last month. 🙂  Isn’t it cute?  yeah..i know it’s a FANNY PACK!  but LOOK AT IT!  isn’t it CUUUUTE???? 🙂  and it was on an additional 50% clearance rack!  WHEEE!

I haven’t done too much knitting this week.  shocker.  hahaah.  I have been working on a baby sweater for a baby shower i have at the end of the month.   I’m almost done w/ it.  I just need to knit the Icord for the tie and I’m done.  so i’m 99% done.  I hate I-cord.  I think it’s stupid.   that’s why i’m fighting it so much.

I just need the I-cord and the yarn i have set aside for the Icord matches the buttons 🙂  the darker pink in the button.  Isn’t it cute?? 🙂  pics of it blocking of course.

I plan on making a matching hat.  But we’ll see how that goes.  I might not be inspired enough to do it.  hahaah.

I’ve got a bad case of startitis right now.  And I need to stop looking at new and exciting patterns b/c I keep starting all this new stuff right now.  Hold me back, folks.  hahahaha.

But that’s all for now.   Not too exciting, I know. 🙁  so sorry.  have a great weekend, everyone!

Thursday and no Purse-Day!

Hello!   I’m updating from work today b/c I went to bed and forgot it was a day to blog.  hahaha.  I’m so lame.  because that is, the picture of the purse I was going to show off today is at home on my pc.  and I have no access to it from here at work…so no purse today. 🙂

I’ve been sort of busy w/ all kinds of things: work, lack of sleep, friends, work…annoying people at work…. 🙂  i did some knitting this week, but it was little knitting and not too productive.  Nevertheless…I have an FO or two to show off. 🙂

My love of dumplings is very prevalent and when i saw this pattern, i HAD to do it.  It’s very quick and easy and funny. 🙂  i was going to make a bunch of them and put them in a steamer basket, but I ran out of time to really make more than one. 🙂  booo

That’s all for now, folks!  Sorry such a short post.  I’ll catch you on the flip side! 🙂

Thursday Purse-Day!

Say what?  yeah…i gotz another purse to show you guys. 🙂

pretty huh?Again, i just yanked the picture off some japanese web site I found the bag to be on.  They had such lovely pictures…who am I to compete? 🙂  hahahaha   Isn’t it cute?  another trophy from when I hit the outlet mall last week.  I know it’s nothing special, but i think it’s super cute. 😀

Remember the little doll I previewed 2 weeks ago?   I finished. 🙂  She has a smile and everything.  I also put a smile on her big sister the ballerina.

I did pick up some needles and knit a baby hat this week.  I have an upcoming baby shower in the next 2 months and I don’t want to catch myself rushing trying to make something. 🙂  I almost forgot how to knit i’ve been doing nothing but crocheting lately!

I’m working on a sweater in the same yarn to give as a gift at the shower.  i wish i could say i had it done already….sigh. 🙂

have a great weekend, everyone!  thank you for stopping by!

Thursday Purse-Day!!

Hello all. 🙂

Happy Thursday.  It’s time for another purse!  WHEEEEE!!

Isn't it prettty??

so me :)

I had to do some work at a location very far from me.  It’s so far, it’s next to the outlet malls.  SOOOO…since I was out there….I figured I would just drive thru and see if anything caught my eye.  I knew good and well the Coach outlet was out there.  But was I feeling the pull?  It was like a tractor beam as soon as I saw the sign.  It didn’t help things that when I walked in, i was handed a 30% off total purchase coupon.  tee hee.

So I have FO’s to show off.  Well, yes and no.  I had made plans to take pictures of them in the bluebonnets that are all a-bloom here in Texas.  But it was very cold and rainy all week.  Well, COLD.  i loved it.   This weekend it’s supposed to be really warm, so maybe I’ll trek out this weekend to take some pictures of the toys out in the bluebonnets. 🙂

But until then…I’ll show what I got.

Da-Da Da-Da being sneaky on the stairs. I think Da-Da got stuck

Project:  Jaja the huggable ninja
Yarn: Debbie Macomber Morning Glory Cotton
Amount Used:  1.25 skeins
Color:  pink
Hook Size: D hook / 3.25 mm
Date Started: Mar 19, 2011
Date Finished: Mar 27, 2011

I call the toy Da-Da b/c i’m not all that clever.  The pattern name is JaJa which is hilairous…but Da-Da in cantonese means “hit-hit”.  I thought that was funny.  Since it IS a ninja…they hit right? hahah. duh.

I’m not too sure about the eyes either.  I had reservations about making the eyes pink.  But i tried w/ black yarn and it was much too harsh.  So i left them pink and I think it looks fine.  A few of my friends did not agree. hahaha.

I have complaints about the yarn.  Everyone that saw me using the yarn said “ew…that looks splitty.”  It was splitty as hell!! stupid yarn.  but it might have been a crappy ball.  the 2nd ball i cracked open wasn’t as splitty.  the first ball was practically unraveling itself.  VERY frustrating.

I almost finished another toy, but I just need embroidery thread to do the hair strands and her mouth.

so i guess this is a preview:

ladybughead ladybug2 ladybug

I think it would be cute to put this doll in the bluebonnets to take pics.  Esp since it is a ladybug doll. 🙂   This is to accompany the ballerina doll i did months ago.  big sister and little sister both have to have dolls or else one gets mad at the other.  sigh.  siblings.

That’s all for now.  hopefully i’ll have better pictures later on this weekend. 🙂

have a great weekend everyone!

Thursday Purse-Day!

i almost went to bed just now before I realized it was Thursday (early am) and i have stuff to post 🙂   How did everyone’s week go?  I had a pretty ok week.  I had to baby sit a couple of cats for an entire week.  I miss having a cat around here, but then i DO NOT miss it.  these kittens were really scared of me for the first 3 days.  Then on the 4th day, the girl kitty was all WHATEVER!! and this was HER house…not mine.  she was all over me constantly!  and whenever i was knitting?  oh forget it.  she was constantly grabbing for yarn, projects and scratching the hell out of me in the process.  Then the boy kitty decided on the 5th day that he was my bff and would NOT leave me alone. 🙂  very sweet…but i forgot how allergic I am to these cats.  i was itching like crazy and I still am, even though they left early afternoon on Weds.   the itching will remind me to watch my mouth before I agree to baby sit cats again. 🙂

I do have a “bag” this week.  Sorry, I again stole the pics off the manufacturer website.  Their pics rock!  Who am I to compete?

I got myself a color nook the other day after swearing up and down I wouldn’t do it.  but there was a deal on ebay that i could not resist.  so just stamp “SUCKA” on my forehead.   I also turned it into a really cool Android Tablet.  Holla!  I’m so cool. hahahaahah.  jk.   I love this case b/c you can stand it up like an easel.  this proves to be nice when i’m sitting at my desk and i’m actually reading something while chatting w/ my friend on IM.

So the gifts I finished up last week were received by their intendeds yesterday.  I got txt’s from both saying big thank you’s. 🙂  this makes me so happies. 😀  My friend Joseph said “oh I can tell your skills have improved.”  SAY WHAT?  The slippers i gave to him were almost exactly like the ones I gave to him before?  WTF is he talking about?  improved…..p-shah!

Then the girl that got the giraffe had a bit of envy over the sparkly unicorn.  oops. 🙂  But she also told her mom “Wow.  Auntie Jen is a good knitter.” hAhAHAHAhA!  funny girl!  The little one didn’t get to see her unicorn yet.  So i’m waiting to see her response. …

i was asked to make another unicorn for my friend’s new baby boy, but i said “UNICORN? for a BOY???”  she asked me to just pick something and make it…whatever i see fit.  So I decided on a puppy dog!  i searched on Ravelry and found this cute little puppy pattern and i thought it was hilarious.

Some of you might ask why I picked these colors.  Some people already asked me that question.’s what I had laying around that i felt was washable for mommy.   I didn’t expect him to come out so GREEN.   I call him Stumpy b/c his legs are so stumpy 🙂  and yeah his arm are supposed to stick out like that.   I used safety eyes and nose instead of buttons since the doll is going to a baby.  so my little puppy looks a little different from the one in the pattern.   and as usual w/ amigurumi, i used smaller yarn and hook than the pattern called for.

What is this?  It’s a Yoda baby Bottle Cozy.  I found it ages ago and wanted it make it.  I’m finally mailing off that Yoda sweater i did months ago for a baby that might be too big for it now.  Sigh.  But im mailing it off tomorrow!  And i’m mailing it off w/ this bottle cozy for laughs.  My bottle cozy isn’t as cute as the one in the example.  🙁   i’m not 1000% pleased.  I think it’s where i put his eyes.  sigh.

Ok folks. that’s all I’ve got for now. 🙂  have a great weekend!!

Thursday…PURSE DAY!! SAY WHAT?!?!?!

Hello friends. 🙂  Thank you for coming back!  I hope the spring hasn’t come to your area too early like it has here for me.  My allergies are killing me!  Granted they aren’t as bad as they used to be, but i’m very tired all the time lately.  I don’t like that tired feeling.

I actually have a bag to show off this week. 🙂

Sorry, I stole a photo off some website rather than going all the way downstairs to get my bag to take photos of. :)

Sorry, I stole a photo off some website rather than going all the way downstairs to get my bag to take photos of. :)

I’m going back to cross-body bags for now.  I’m tired of lugging around a big purse that keeps falling off my shoulder!  GRR!  so annoying!  And of course, the bigger the purse, the more crap you put in it right?  Well, that’s what I do personally.   I saw this sucker when I went to Academy to buy some new shoes.  Sigh.  It pulled me in…screaming and yelling the whole time.  BUY ME BUY MEEEE!  🙁

I’ve been a busy bee this week.  I’ve caught up on some promised gifts.

I usually love this pattern, but this time around i was getting annoyed.  I think it’s b/c the big needles, the yarn, wasn’t the most comfortable thing to knit.  Still got it done. 🙂

I held one strand of each color together.  My friend Joseph requested these slippers and he wanted blue.  The only color of blue I could find was this bright-ish blue and I couldn’t stand it.  So that’s why I mixed in the grey.   If i had more time that day, i would have gone to another Joann’s store and bought the color of blue i was wanting in Bernat Roving. But the Joann’s i was at did not have that color…so stupid me I compromised b/c i’m impatient. and lame. 🙂

I had originally made Joseph a pair of slippers for his birthday back in March of 2006.  He LOVES those slippers so much.  He wears them all the time.  he loves them so much, he wore holes into the big toe area on both slippers and he started whining about how he needed a new pair.  His birthday just passed yesterday and he’s got himself a new pair.  The old pair lasted 5 years of very continuous wear.  The only time he doesn’t wear them is in the summer.  Weirdo. hahaha.  But i’m glad he loves them so much.

I was a crocheting fool this week too.

So I made this giraffe for the big sister of the girl that I made the Unicorn for last week.  STupid me, when I picked up the hook, i thought it was a G hook, but it was an E hook.  It was dark in here, it was 1am…i was a bit tired…sue me.  By the time I finished the head and the neck, I started to realize, hey…this is way smaller than the UNICORN!!!  Then I looked at the hook and realized my mistake.  SIGH.  So i thought, Ok..finish the giraffe and then save it for a give-a-way to someone else. Then remake the giraffe w/ bigger hook.  oh no.  he’s SO cute so tiny.    You can just eat him up!!

I attached the legs correctly this time and guess what.  It can stand up on it’s own.  duh.

So since the giraffe was so much smaller than the unicorn…i made ANOTHER unicorn.

hello tiny unicorn check out my purple mane. :) purple mane...purple mane.... i'm so cute and stumpy! check out my backside. (tee hee)

You can’t tell in the pictures, but the white yarn I picked is sparkly. 😀   it’s SO CUTE.  When I told my friend about the mix up on the unicorns, she said NO NO! don’t go thru the trouble!  We’ll take the big one!  I said NO!  this one will be way superior!  She said “ok fine.”  She agreed w/ me tonight that it’s better.  she’s so excited…she wants to show the kids the dolls so bad.  BUT…i tend to take a long time to send knit gifts off (dont ask me why) and she doesn’t want to hear the kids nagging for days about where their toys are.  sigh.   I’m happy that Mama is happy.

Here’s pics of them together. 🙂

we like to snuggle although the giraffe is way taller than the unicorn. Unicorn is just going to have to bump the giraffe w/ it's horn. excuse us, please. No comments on the unicorn's shortness please. :) Are you looking at our bums? you are looking at our bums, you cheeky monkey!

I’ve already been asked what I’m going to do w/ the big unicorn.  It’s been promised to someone who has been asking since Christmas how come Santa didn’t give her a dang unicorn.  Rather than telling her the truth, her aunt asked me if she could have the big unicorn so she can live in ignorant bliss for yet another year. 🙂  So it’s going to be her gift from the Easter Bunny since Santa can’t deliver. 🙂

have a great weekend everyone!!!

Whoa. Sorry folks for being so absent.

I didn’t realize I hadn’t posted anything in a month.  wow.   Sorry friends. 🙂  hahaahahah.

honestly, the main reason why I hadn’t posted anything in a while is b/c my knitting was on a slight hold.  i wasn’t producing too much and felt…well, w/o a bag to show off or knitting, what else is there? 🙂 hahaah

Plus i had a business trip i took last week and I planned on knitting like a fool in my hotel room, but omg!  Doing all these stupid workshops and stuff all day really wore me out.  i was in bed by 11p every night!  say what?! hahaha.

I do have some stuff to show off today.  No bag though.  sorry folks. 🙂

I did manage to make something super cute this week. 🙂

So i made this for my friend’s daughter.  i was told she was requesting another doll from Auntie Jen.  Who is Auntie Jen to deny a child a new toy?  Esp one made by Auntie Jen’s hands? hahaha.  I showed the unicorn to the girl’s mom already and she was all OMG OMG OMG!! SHE’S GOING TO LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. apparently every day when they drive to pick up older sister from school, they drive by some horses and she goes hog wild over them.  so this is good 🙂   granted it IS a unicorn and not a horse…but whatever. 🙂 hahahah.   I’m pretty pleased w/ how it came out!

I think that’s all folks.  have a great weekend!  I promise not to be such a stranger!

Thursday, no Purse-Day — Gong Hay Fat Choy!

i’m still being good and cleaning out all my junk and not buying new stuff.  I dont think i’ve come across any new bags this week.  so boo! 🙂

Today is the Lunar New Year.  I rarely do any kind of celebrating on this holiday since I’m far away from family, but I always feel like I should be going nuts w/ food, friends, family.  Yet I never do.  hahaha.  But Happy New year, everyone!

We’re also having a freeze over here in DFW.  It’s incredible.  I know like 2/3 of the country is experiencing a blizzard far worse than what we are experiencing.  I didnt’ know that we could get into single digit temperatures here.  that’s what’s incredible.  Driving it totally awful and I was holed up in my house for 2 days until today when I had to venture out and go to work.  Sigh.   And the Super bowl is happening here on Sunday.  Alot of chaos going on and ice on the roads isn’t something we need 😉

i did get alot of knitting done in the last few days.  Well, i say alot…alot for me lately. 🙂

My mods:

  • cast on 113 sts. Ribbing…then realized it’s not supposed to be done in the round. So I’m knitting in the round until it’s time to do the English Rib and i’m going to knit flat at that point.
  • Obviously i did not knit the blocks of color. My brother wanted a single stripe done intermittently. I did the stripe every 2”.
  • i knit all the ribbing until the hat was about 10.5” long. Then i did k2tog all the way across for one row.
  • Did p2tog on the 2nd row.
  • another row of k2tog.
  • i just cinched it up at that point and then sewed the seam down.

My brother requested this hat after he saw a similar hat at REI.  why didn’t he just buy the stupid hat at REI instead of asking me to make it?  He likes having ORIGInAL things…things you can’t buy at the store.  in comes his idiot sister.  🙂   I’m pleased w/ how it came out and i really did love the ribbing.  i love how poofy it is!

I’m working on a new shawl and here are the beginnings of it:

an unfolded bias strip folded bias strip

I was going to use this yarn for a pair of legwarmers I started last year.  I am giving up on them and ripped them out b/c the gauge on the legwarmers are UNBELIEVABLE!  tight tight tight.  I can’t knit that tight.  i had enough for a sock cuff on both legs when i ripped out.  Some of the women at my sunday group were very very upset when they saw me pulling it all out.  They tried to convince me to convert them into a pair of socks.  I could have done that I guess.  but oh well. 🙂  muahaha!

everyone keep warm and safe.  Happy New year!
