Thursday Purse-Day!

Hi everyone. 🙂  Happy Thursday!

Here is this week’s bag….

lunch-y munch-y! it's cute and cheap! side view.

This was given to me by Crazy Kathy.  She saw these in the dollar bin at Target and bought me a couple of them. 🙂  I haven’t used them for lunch, but today i used it as a project bag.  not such a great idea b/c there is velcro. 🙂   but it cost $1! WHEEE!

This week has been a bit of a roller coaster for me personally.  I didn’t get too much knitting done.   Well, i got SOME knitting done.  but not much. 🙂

I did get a hat done today while at work.  (shush)

shroom hat right view left view top

Yarn: Bernat Roving
Amount Used:  about 2/3 of a skein
Color:  Bark
Needle Size:  US 11 / 8.0 mm
Date Started: Dec 16, 2009
Date Finished:  Dec 16, 2009

This was a super fast knit due to the big needles.   My mistakes included not doing a gauge swatch.  I started off on size 10’s.  I put the hat on after i did the ribbing and i couldn’t fit it on my head.  rip rip rip.  I did the whole hat on 11’s.  another mistake.  I should have went up a needle size after the ribbing.  OR i could have done an extra repeat of the pattern stitches.  Sigh.  It’s a cute hat on me. 🙂  it just doesn’t look like the picture in the pattern.  oh wellz. 🙂

I started a pair of  Golightly Gloves for myself in pinky pink.

I figured by now i would be finished.  But I put them down and got distracted w/ Christmas shopping this week despite my annual protests against Christmas shopping.  I had to run out and get gifts for my friends’ kids.  I’ve been a bad auntie this year and not sent much to them, so I’m trying to make up for it right now by buying their love w/ crap. 🙂  hAhaah.    I hope to have the gloves done in a day or two.  i want to wash dishes in STYLE.  tee hee.

On Sunday we had our annual Simpatico Christmas party.  Thanks to Peggy for offering her lovely home to us insane people.  There was alot of food, some alcohol, lots of gifts and lots of screaming laughing.  🙂  I’ll just put some pics up of the food and some of the gifts.  I don’t know how people would feel about me posting pics of their faces up. 🙂

peppers :) cheesecake some limes for our drinky drink. tea cookies! havarti cheese tortellini salad snowman stitch markers (a la peggy) incognito bitches. :) pumpkin bread fantastic cheese ball thingy w/ mango chutney all over it!@ fancy cheese gouda cheese log and pumpernickel bread deviled eggs corn salad broccoli salad flowers :) thumbprint cookies tamales janice's yarn presents galore house shoes a la Kathy!! :)

I took alot of pics of all the handmade gifts that were given and there were some good ones.  I laughed so hard my stomach hurt.  Sigh.  not enough dirty smut books were passed around though.   and MY dirty book got SWIPED by Kathy!  I was so tired after I got home that I had to really just sit and chill out for a while.  Mainly from excitement and cheese overload.  my gawd.  Cheese is still my mortal enemy!! 🙂

Thanks for tuning in. 🙂   I’ll have some FO’s for you guys this week if you want to take a peeky! 🙂

Thursday Purse-Day!!

Hi Everyone!  it’s Thursday!! 🙂  time for another bag!

I got a cuuute one this week!

so retro chic me loves!

I went to the Texas State Fair this week with good ol’ Janice.  🙂  Can you believe she’s lived here for forever and never been?  SHEESH!  So when she asked me to go, I jumped. 🙂  We did a little shopping while we were there and of course…we needed rolly bags to carry our crap in. 🙂  TA DA!  This bag is truly a gem and a great deal for only $25. 🙂

So yes….I went to the State Fair on Monday. 🙂  Yes….I ate a few bad things.  Not a ton like I did last year.  last year I was eating everything I could get my hands on.  This year I didn’t care so much.  I just wanted to try some new stuff. 🙂

such as…..FRIED BUTTER!

WE FOUND IT! my butter w/ cherry sauce and powdered sugar. mmm...heart attack please :) Janice opted for the plain variety gross. :) ewwey gooey!

It was what we expected and more.  It was good!  I won’t lie!!  It tasted like I took a biscuit and slathered it in alot of butter.  Everyone has all these visions of someone deep frying a stick of butter on a stick.  so not so.  I’m not sure how these people can even claim this is fried butter.  It is a huge topic of conversation tho.  It is making such a buzz that MSNBC and CNN were talking about it at the beginning of the month.  We had to try it.

We also ate some Chicken Fried Bacon, Deep Fried Pork Chips, and the Twisted deep fried yam.  My FAVORITE is still the CFB.  That’s all I ate this year.  Oh yeah…i had a huge diet root beer.  MMMM.  🙂  no funnel cakes, no corny dogs, no turkey legs…i kept it cool, baby.  well, as cool as I could. 🙂

CFB and Deep Fried Pork Skins CHICKEN FRIED BACON not my fav. :) Janice loved it Holey Moley...the grease....pork fat...mmmm Deep fried Twisted yam on a stick by the time we got to this, i was done eating for the day.

We also went to look at my entries into the creative arts competition. 🙂  WHEEE!

I reallllllllllllllllllllly hate how this is displayed WHEE! 3rd place! I don't like how this is displayed either. WHEEE! 2nd PLACE!

Oh yeah.  I bought a cowboy hat at the fair to match my pink cowboy boots!! 🙂

I have an FO to show off.  Another boyfriend hat…this one for my brudda. 🙂

I see my family this week so I had to have it done in time.  🙂  I hope he likes it.  Just in time for football season too I guess.

I love this hat pattern w/ all my heart.  it’s so easy and looks so awesome and gets such a wonderful response from people. 🙂

That’s it for now folks! 🙂  have a great weekend!

Thursday Purse-Day!!

Hello all.  Happy Thursday! 🙂

THis is the bag for this week!

cute cute! chic little bag :) backside

I found this in my garage while cleaning out some stuff this week.  I had forgotten I had bought it!  It’s sooo cute and little!  The perfect little going out bag.  I got this at a purse store about a mile from my house.  It’s a store in a shopping center that just sells purses.  I dont know how they make the rent every month…but whatever! 🙂

I picked up my state fair shawl at the state fair this week.  I got a ribbon!  a PARTICIPANT RIBBON!  BOOO! 🙂

it might as well say ta da!

Not many FO’s for this week.  I’m still working on a few things…brudda’s hat, prayer shawl and I started some mitts tonight.  sigh.  Startitis is evil.

I do have one FO.  I finished a cowl for a friend of mine. 🙂 sorry the pics suck so bad.  my mannequin has no neck. 🙂

Beads really slow me down.  I don’t think i want to do another beaded project for a little while. it’s a bit frustrating when you have to put everything down every few seconds.  but this was a fairly fast knit.  I didn’t work on it furiously…but i had a good time knitting it.  It’s very simple and pretty!!

this is a short and sweet post tonight. 🙂  have a great weekend everyone!

Thursday Purse-Day!!!

Hi Everyone!  I hope Thursday is going well for you so far. 🙂

So this is this week’s little bag.  It’s kind of lame…but i love the print on it. 🙂

coin purse

i got this when i went shopping at the mall the other day.  I have so much change rolling around in my purse, I thought it was time i got a coin purse to put all that dang change in. 🙂   i told ya it was a weak little bag today. 🙂  I wish i could say that i made it.  For some reason, I havent’ been able to find purse supplies here locally (just the clasps and stuff).  everything is online for order, but i haven’t taken the time to actually order some supplies to try my hand at making these kind of bags.

So I have made some progress on knitting this week.  That leafy entrelac shawl is moving along quickly.  i didnt knit at all the week before b/c I was kind of stressed out and not feeling the mojo.  the mojo is back.  I finally figured out how to do entrelac and since then, the shawl has progressed very quickly.  I’m addicted to it.  i ripped it out again a 2nd time and started it up for real on Saturday.

leaves stretched out on the blocking board so you can see the pattern pretty huh? closer up of the pattern

i’ve gotten about 4 more tiers finished on this since i took these pictures.   close to being done i guess. 🙂   i freaggin love this color!!!

even though i love the colors….Noro is a pain.  this stuff sticks to itself alot.  so it’s hard to move very smoothly.  and look what i found….

A KNOT!??!?!?! look at that LAME knot!!!

Can y’all see that??!?!  it’s a KNOT!!  A KNOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1  and look at the color change ON the knot!! it’s RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!  I picked it out and then spliced the yarn together at that point.   GRRR!  Look at the sudden color change on it!

isn’t that insane!?!?!?  am i going to tink back and “fix” it?  no.  i’ve tinked back so many squares by making mistakes, i just don’t feel like tinking back another one.  Iguess it’ll add some intersesting color change or whatever.  but i really don’t like it.  stupid noro.  Did you see the vegetable matter in the picture too?  What is up w/ THAT?

I was hoping to have a finished shawl to post tonight…but it ain’t happening.  it still needs a couple more rows and edging too.  next week for sure. 🙂

I started a sweater the other day too, but i got mad at the gauge I was getting so I ripped it out after I did about 20 rows.  I was no liking the loosy-goosy-ness of it.  We’ll see how it looks when I’ve gone down a couple of needle sizes.   sigh.

sassy is doing really well right now.  she’s eating more and back to her old antics.  She’s funny.  I put some medicine in her food today and when she came up to eat..she KNEW!!! HOW does she know????  she looked at it…then looked at me w/ the worst stink eye i’ve ever seen.  i couldnt help but laugh at her. 🙂  It was just so cute.   But she’s doing great right now.  Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers.

That’s it for now, folks.  Thanks for stopping by and Happy Thursday!

Thursday Purse-Day!

hello all!  happy Thursday!  How is everyone today?

here’s today’s bag!

dewdrop bag inside dewdrop bag outside of bag

this is a dewdrop bag.  yes i made it.  yes…please do not look at the seams AROUND the handle.  they are messy and crooked! hahaah.  dont you love the fabric though?  i talked about this bag as one of my sewing projects, but i’m posting it up as a bag of the week.  Fabric was bought at Joann’s.  Pattern provided by an etsy seller.  directions were clear and concise. 🙂

So I was told by Janice I needed to do a Sassy update.  (hi Phil).  Sassy is still not eating as much.  She’s barely eating and i think she’s lost more weight.  I talked to the vet about this on Monday and I was told to come pick up another appetite stimulant (in pill form) to try and see if that’ll get things moving.  i know this is not new…but does anyone realize how insane it is to give a pill to a cat that is REALLLLLLLLLLLLY good at spitting things out???  she is So good at it!!!  after multiple attempts (we’re talking like 10-12) to get that piece of a pill in her mouth, i finally just disolved it w/ some water, put it in a syringe and squirt it into her mouth.  she did NOT like that. 🙂  and it didn’t help much.  not sure if the water dissolving it hampered the effects.  I’ll try to give her another piece tomorrow…but she is catching on.  of course as I write all this, she’s laying on top of my hands as i type on the laptop…so cute.  how can you be mad at that??? 🙂  she’s being so kissy and sweet.   so anyway…we’re going to report back to the doctor by Friday.  it may be time for a 2nd opinion.

I have no FO’s for this week.  I do have some WIP’s.  I”m still working on the christmas stocking.  I finished the foot finally on Sunday.  I need to put in the beard, eyes and the lining.  i picked up some fabric for the lining yesterday. 🙂

lining w/ the stocking

i need to finish this off.  i had to rip out the foot 4 times b/c I don’t know how to read directions.   and i didn’t realize I had made a mistake until i started decreasing for the toe…each of the 4 times.  I’m truly very stupid.

I finished one baby bootie today.  I got an urge to do the pattern and I just rummaged around and found some sock yarn I want to use up. again….i did not read the directions as written and i started off differently than what the pattern called for.  Eh…the results are the same.  does the journey really matter? hahaha

booty-licious another view bottom of the bootie

i’ll finish the other bootie tomorrow and post up pics once im’ done.  I think this is a very cute little shoe! 🙂  someone at work asked me if these were for a Longhorn.  Nope.  I didn’t have anyone specific in mind when starting these…but giving them to a Longhorn isn’t a bad idea….

I did make a couple more bibs this week. 🙂  These bibs are fast and satisfying and crowd pleasers. 🙂

bibs i love this fabric! i love this fabric too!!

i’m getting better i think.hahaah.

i’m starting to get sleepy….i hope everyone has a good weekend!

Thursday Purse-Day!!

Hello all!! It’s Thursday!  Happy Thursday!  time for another bag!  WHOO HOOO!!

Amy butler bag side view goodies inside

Isn’t it cute?  I wish  I could say I made it…but I did NOT.  I got it at Michaels on clearance when i went shopping w/ the Purling Ps on Sunday.  🙂  all the goodies inside? was all clearance yarn.  I couldn’t resist.  DON”T JUDGE ME!!! 🙂

I sent my brother his baby shower gift the other day.  I added the clothing label touch to the sweater and added a pair of baby booties to the mix.

no name yet does it look not obvious? haha

Strange enough…these two projects use the same yarn.  The pictures look like they are different colors.  so weird.

I made the 6 month old size for the shoes b/c who knows how big this kid is going to be.  Her mom is tiny tiny tiny, so i bet she has a ginormous baby….or a really tiny petite one. 🙂

I’m working on another santa stocking for pay as mentioned last week.  i’m almost done w/ it.  i screwed up on the heel 3 times before I got it right this time.  apparently I think i know so much that I don’t need to read patterns thoroughly before I just jump in.   so that took away a whole day.  grrrr.   and i decided this stocking needs a liner.  sigh.

ho ho ho working on the foot what a freaggin mess!!!!

I dread weaving in all those ends.  oh wait…do i really have to if i’m going to use a lining??? OOOH..maybe not!!!! 🙂  yay!!!  This stocking is bigger than the original one.  i’m conflicted.   I also need to weave in the beard.  sigh. i’m not as done as I thought I was.

i did a bit of sewing this week too.  I made some bibs and burp cloths.  I need to send these sets out for a gift (to go along w/ that pewter colored sweater and kimono baby shoes I showed off last week)…and i’m stock piling for future gifts.

bib-by boppy booooo! burb cloths I know these are easy to do...but man. that fabric makes those things so adorable. doesn't this fabric look like japanese fabric? it's not! :) crunch and munch

The burp cloths and bibs are for the gift.  The middle flower-y bib…might be going to a drooling little girl i saw last week.  Let’s see if I see her tomorrow. 🙂

i’m sleepy. 🙂  peace out!

Thursday Purse-Day!!

Hello everyone!  It’s Thursday!  Time for another bag!!  Whoo-hoooo!

Another fakey! hahaha back view

This is a continuation of the bags that I bought last week when shopping w/ Janice.  😀  is’nt this one CUUUUTE?   it’s very roomy!!  and  yes…only $15.  muahaha!

Thanks to everyone’s well wishes for my little baby.  I got the test results on Thurs/Fri.  She’s FINE!!  PERFECTLY healthy!  nothing is wrong.  The vet even said “i wish half my cats that come in here were as healthy as Sassy is!”  *blush*  I was asked about her eating habits and we tweaked her diet a bit.  no more crunchy food…only canned food.  To see what happens.  and oh yes…i was to QUADRUPLE what I was feeding her in canned food.  OK.    I did it.  she was fine for about 5 days.  Then she started throwing up again.  I talked to the vet today and she’s concerned about that.  Sassy has to go back to the vet on Monday for X-rays.  Sigh.  she’s gonna be pissed at me.   But thanks again for keeping her in your thoughts/prayers.

So I got lots done this week.  I’m not sure why my productivity went up or whatever…but I was successful.   YAY!!

Item #1….the cardi.  IS DONE.  DONE DONE DONE!  WHEEEEE!!

The cardi is done!! more light i guess? back close up of the buttons

It’s no secret i had some serious issues w/ this pattern.   I’ve been pretty pissed about it al and i know i should have just went w/ a top-down raglan sweater.  As much complaining as time-outs as i had w/ this cardi, i could have ripped it all out and started all over w/ a top-down and finished it in LES S time.  sigh.

Wow.  it took me over a month to do this.   hahaha.  soooo.  here are my thoughts/notes.

  • Sleeves were done first.  At first I thought it was awesome so I didn’t have to do a gauge swatch.  duhhh..
  • The pattern was fine until you get to the section where you add the sleeves.  MATH…WRONG.  I cannot say this enough.  i was pulling out the little hair I have left on my head over this.   I picked up, knit to the end where you finish the decreasing and i was 10 stitches too many on the left side.  I then ripped it all out and re-did the math and found out there was a mistake.
  • there are some weird mistakes in a certain part of the pattern that isn’t CRUCIAL to keep going (more of an annoyance), but you don’t know when to STOP decreasing.  I’m not into patterns where you have to feel around for a guess on this.
  • The button band info didn’t work w/ what i had.  Using a smaller needle size for that ribbed button band and picking up fewer stitches was the solution.  I picked up too few the first time and had a very gathered cardi.  I picked up TOO many the 2nd and 3rd time trying this and i got a ruffle.  So i figured out a solution by just doing.

  • I think the method they used to stripe so many stripes is great.  I think that was what the pattern was focused on rather than anything else.

enough complaining.  I love the buttons I found for this!

I love this pattern so much.  I wish I could marry it! haahah  I am working on a pair of matching booties and a hat for this.  maybe no hat.  they live in SoCal.  not that cold all up in there.

Item #3….Hot water bottle cozy

Last week for P-La’s bday, I made her a hot water bottle cozy.  She’s been talking about knitting one for forever.  That day, i just happen to see something online where someone took an old felted sweater and made a cozy for it.  Omg.  I had this old sample Noro cabled sweater that i was going rip out and re-use the yarn.  It was a pain.  so i just threw the whole thing in the washer weeks ago w/ plans to make something w/ it.  I never did it.  🙂  So i made a hot water bottle cozy.  P-La said she liked it.  I hope she wasn’t lying to me! hahaha

water bottle cozy water bottle cozy see!! it fits!

ended up having to hand sew it b/c the fabric was so thick, it didn’t fit under the presser foot on my machine. 🙂 hand stitched it closed.

My cousin showed me this etsy seller’s dolls for sale and begged me to make one for her.  i waited a while then went back and found out the seller was now selling the pattern rather than just the dolls.  i got alot of OOOOH’s and AAAAAH’s when i worked on it at work and at knit nite.

I’ve been sewing this week too.  I’ve got a few things to post that I managed to finish…

Dewdrop bag inside of the dew drop bag. Passport sleeve bag for petra's bday inside of bag. mini box bag to match bag isn't it cute? GASP! look how SMALL it is! pen is for scaling. :)

I fell asleep in my office chair earlier and i better go to sleep before i do it again. 🙂  have a great weekend everyone!

Thursday Purse-Day!

Happy Thursday everyone! 🙂

It’s time for another bag! 🙂

I got a new wallet this week.  It seems like I get wallets all the time.  yes, dear friends…i do.  It’s a sickness.   But I saw this wallet on some tech site and I was sooo excited when I saw the video on the website.  (yes…a video got me excited about a wallet).  Flip Side Wallet helps protect your ID from RFID theft.   Hard-case wallets get me pretty excited too.  Don’t ask me why.  I have no clue.  i think it’s all the snappy noises they make when they close.  tee hee.

of course I had to get PINK CC's go on the bottom, other cards go on top ID and cash. :)

yeah I had to get pink.  Sue me.  hahha. It doesn’t hold THAT much, but i shouldn’t be carrying so much stuff w/ me to begin with anyway just in case.   and yes…it snaps closed. 🙂  and stays closed!

I’m almost done w/ the for-pay cardigan.   All i have left is the decreases for the neck and the button band.

I did get some sewing done.  Go figure.  Why is that?  A Love affair w/ a new hobby I guess.  I just made a couple of little things this week.

My bedroom door has been closing on it’s own for a couple of months.  I like most of my doors open for air flow and such.  Plus since I live solo, why do all the doors need to be shut?  So for the last couple of months, I had some random vice grips holding my door open.  hahahaha.  just sitting there, blocking the door.  I was looking thru some of my computer files and I found a pyramid door stopper pattern I saved a long time ago.  So I decided to make it.

Silly vice grips propping my door open. :) the pyramid door stop...sans loop and made a bit bigger than called for in the pattern Sassy is wondering what this weird thing is. *sniff sniff* greetings, newcomer.

I forgot to put the ribbon on the top.  By the time I realized it, I didn’t feel like ripping the seam to put it in.  plus, it’s supposed to prop the door open.  what do i really need a ribbon loop for?  cuteness factor I guess. 🙂  The pattern says to fill it up w/ beans or rice.  Is this even a good idea?  i can’t tell you the numerous patterns I see that call for this sort of thing. these are ORGANIC items!  I mean…they can rot can’t they?  I know w/ rice you can get weird little bugs.  I’ve lived that experience.

I get the f’ing creepy crawlies when I think about that day I found this out.  It’s weird to fill a bowl w/ rice from it’s trusty storage container and rinse it all out…then look in the bowl..and see things moving.  and then you look in the trusty container…and see rice moving.  I screamed like a little girl that day for a long time and i boiled everything that came in contact w/ that rice (even threw some of the containers away).  So i am VERY scared of putting rice in things that will sit around for, what is in theory, years.  So I filled up the door stopper w/ aquarium stones?  those little rocks?  i hope there aren’t bugs in those things. 🙂

Botgurl’s bday was on Saturday and she told me no presents.  Okey dokey.  I got her a card.  But then I found this fabric and some cheesy for-show-only pot holders had to be made. 🙂

hello sexy fireman fireman on one side, flames on the other. i like this fireman better..i think he's hotter. bwahaha! hot man on the front, fire on the back

isn’t this a riot?  it’s all for fun and show.  She said she liked them!  YAY!!  Success!

It rained like crazy daisy here last week.  I got a new trench coat that was awesome to wear in the rain.  and I had a hat that kept my head nice and dry.  (I don’t like umbrellas…too fussy!)  I was prepared for this rain…except for my feet.  normally i just wear flip flops and dont’ care about my feet getting wet b/c if you wear normal shoes, they will get wet anyway and i get pissed off when i have soggy shoes and socks.  But this rain was cold…very cold.  So i wore shoes, but i wasn’t happy about it.  How come I don’t have a pair of rainboots?  It does’nt rain THAT often here, so that’s probably why. 🙂  But if i get ONE pair, then i’ll be prepared!   So guess what I got??  WHEEE!

OOH what this? check out the sweet box! OMG! TOKIDOKI RAINBOOTS! WHEEEEE!! I <3 you!

Why didn’t I get Hello Kitty rainboots?  i saw some.  by the same company that made this pair too.  I didn’t dig them as much as I did this pair.  Sigh.  I can’t wait till it rains again. 🙂

I WILL FINISH THE CARDIGAN THIS WEEKEND!  I declare it here!  I must get it done! 🙂  have a great week everyone!

Thursday Purse-Day!! :)

Hi Everyone!   Happy Thursday!

I think today’s post is gonna be a short one. 🙂   I’m SO sleepy!!  And I have to work tomorrow (which is usually a day off for me).   So I am posting before I sleep or else it’ll never get done. 🙂

ANYWHOOO…’s this week’s bag! 🙂

Hello Kitty wallet back of wallet look inside. :)

I went to one of my favorite stores last week and this gem was there.  How can I resist something SO freaggin cute?  I can’t.  That’s why I have it now.  hahahah!

I’ve been working on contract projects all week and not making MUCH progress on them.  I’ve been working on putting together an Escalera jacket for my friend Margie.  I”ll take pictures of it once it’s done.  She asked me to help her before Christmas and last week she jolted my memory that I hadn’t done anything w/ it yet.   whoops.  Lemme tell ya….i’m not digging 3-needle bind-off much anymore having to do so much of it. 🙂  Margie got half a sleeve done, so I need to do the rest of it, do the 2nd sleeve and the collar.    And i was hired to do another Christmas stocking plus redoing the name on an old stocking.   So yeah…Christmas isn’t for a long time, but the stockings are wanted way before Christmas. 🙂

I’m still working on that cardigan for pay and I’m about 1/4 of the way done w/ the body.  I finished the sleeves already…So i’m making progress.  I need to finish. 🙂   I’ll take pics of it when i get more done.  so ashamed! 😀

I have an FO to show off.  I finished this months ago.  I meant to block it and take pics…but I never blocked it.  I found it when i was putting some things away and I remembered I needed to block and take pics.  Well, i got half of that to-do list done. 🙂

I did this hat when i was on vacation in Canada visiting the family.   Since my grandparents’ house just had VERy basic cable, i sat there knitting as my brother cursed at the lack of tv and internet in the house.   I got alot done!! hahaha.  I tried to pick non-pink colors for this hat to be a bit different..make it a darker….I guess more “adult” hat.  i think the colors I picked matched each other too closely b/c some of the cupcakes just kind of blend.   and I think I would have gone down a needle size just b/c I’m a loose knitter.  I made this hat originally for P-la. 🙂  I’m not sure if she’s still going to want it or not.  hahha.

I made some DPN holders this week as well.  I seriously have some ADD going on right now. 🙂

I really love those colorful Hello Kitty beads.  i think they are just so cute even though they aren’t authentic. 🙂

So since I took that sewing lesson last week/2 weeks ago…i’ve been finding lots of things I want to make.  What to make first?  I do’nt know!  I’m salivating at all these patterns and fabrics I’ve been finding.  But I’ve been finding myself gravitating toward 70’s prints that have come back.  I remember how when i was a pre-teen/teenager how much i hated all those old prints.  now i <3 them! 🙂  i washed some fat quarters I had at home and just dried them on my stairs railing to save energy (not using my dryer).

laundry line i think i love the one on the left more

I think I’ll make something this weekend! 🙂   have a great weekend everyone!  I’m off to sleep!

Thursday Purse-Day!!

**warning:  This might be a picture-filled post today.  😀

Hi everyone!!  Happy Thursday 😀

Here is this week’s “bag”.

Toothpick holder toothpick holder :D cool huh? shows you where the toothpicks go! :) and a handy mirror for you to look at! check it can see me taking a picture :D

Cute eh?  hehehe.  I fell in love w/ the fabric on the outside.  Of course this is something that is super cute, I had to have it.  Asian people are obsessed w/ picking their teeth.  Well not ONLY Asian ppl…but I know in my family, everyone is constantly grabbing at toothpicks, covering their mouths w/ their free hand and then digging away.  So this little item is just cute-sy and functional!  🙂

My knitting progress this week has been a bit lame.  Well, I finished 1.25 sleeves on that cardi I need to hurry up and finish.  I knit on Sat night while watching alot of stand up comedy and just laughing laughing.  Every time Chris Rock’s stand up is on tv, i HAVE to watch it b/c i just laugh until I pee my pants.  He’s such a riot.  anyway, i’ve been working on some paid projects and I need to motor on alot of those things.  and this cardi is one of them.  So i’ve put some of my personal projects on hold for a little bit.

first sleeves I love big fat stitches!

Look at this little thing I got a month ago:

bootee blocker

i haven’t made a pair of bootees since I got these, but I can’t wait to try them out.  These are antique!  A BIG find on ebay!  WHEEE!

home sweet home

Sunday marks the one year anniversary of when I signed all the paperwork to close on my house.  Granted, i didn’t move in until end of March, but I had the keys and it was my house on Feb 22. 🙂   people complain about home ownership.  I’ve been happy. 🙂  I hated apt living so much toward the end of it all.   I have made some changes to the house over the last year.  Some very minor, some major.   My master bath painting fiasco was taken care of.   I didn’t blog about it after that post b/c i was pissed at myself.  Pissed at myself for not making a plan of action as to properly paint the stupid bathroom.  So i sat on it….for 2 weeks.  I stared at it…for 2 weeks.  i got more and more mad….for 2 weeks.  I could still see that GREEN underneath the taupe!  and stupid me…since I’m so short, I got paint all over the ceiling at the corners of the room b/c I couldn’t tape off b/c i cannot reach!! So i thought…ok..i will paint the ceiling where i screwed up and no one will notice.  Well, did you know there is like 30K shades of white?  I thought i got the right one until I slapped it on all that popcorn texture and I realize it’s a diff. shade of white.  I stopped.  and stared.  and cursed. 🙂

So i had a couple of options.

  1. call my contractor friend and hire one of his painters to re-do the bathroom for me.
  2. call a very tall friend of mine to come over and help me (he seriously would NOT need a ladder)…bribing him w/ a 12 pack of beer or something.
  3. call my ex* and whine at him until he offers to fix what i screwed up.

*the ex and i are on good terms again.  no lingering feelings of love or wanting to get back together or anything…definitely NOT…we are just friends. 🙂

So i did a combo of 3 and 1.  I called my ex and told him the story of how i screwed up.   I figured he would think it was hilarious.  Plus he used to work w/ my contractor friend and I figured he could give me a good estimate of what the painter dude would charge.  It was going to cost way more than i expected.  So the ex offered to come over and fix what I screwed up.  i accepted.  He owes me money anyway, so i told him this would be his way of working off his debt to me.     So he fixed it all.   I asked him to just start all over.  primer and all.  he did.  he did a great job.  and he did it really fast…2 hours.   Then he offered to do my other bathroom for me.  Striping wallpaper, texturing and painting and changing all the hardware, etc.  I accepted.  He did all this in about 3-4 hours.

pics taken from when I first bought the house after. before guestbath guest bath...i love the sink/faucet sink. ignore the squeezy nose thing. :) wallpaper everywhere smokey blue GOODBYE WALLPAPER! Peeling the wallpaper. i sat and supervised. :D it's amazing what a coat of paint can do. :) a better representation of the color

it’s very hard to take pics of a bathroom.   What are the tricks of the trade here?  option #2 was never exercised.  i did talk to that friend though and when i mentioned painting, he just started going on and on about how much he hated painting.  whoops. 🙂 hahaha.  but he did laugh when I told him i got paint everywhere and he said “aw…you should have asked me to help you.”  DOH!

I bought some new furniture and stuffs at Ikea last week.  Well, new nightstands to match my bed, a dresser to match my bed.  and i bought this drawer thingy at ikea so i could store my many pairs of eyeglasses that I seem to have a hard time keeping track of.   After I put it together, i thought…this is so dull and boring.  HELLO MOD PODGE!!!!

pre decoupage ok i was cleaning up and rearranging after putting all this crap together, so ignore the pile of stuff on the dresser. :) many little drawers :) I covered every side but the bottom. I've never used Mod Podge before. this crap is MESSSY for those of you wondering, that little HK thing on top is a jewelry holder. lol

The theme i’ve been consistent with in my room is brown.  One month I had a pink/brown quilt on my bed, right now i have a blue/brown comforter on my bed.  So that’s why I picked those colors to go on the drawer thingy 🙂  I hate the color in my room so I need to paint the room as well eventually.  and change the flooring.  sigh.  no one ever tells you that homeownership is expensive.  i don’t NEED to do some of these things.  I WANT 😀

Ok i think i’ve rambled on and on enough tonight.  😀  sorry if i bored you guys to death! hAHAHA

everyone have a fantastic weekend!
