Remember the little doll I previewed 2 weeks ago?   I finished. 🙂  She has a smile and everything.  I also put a smile on her big sister the ballerina.

Hello, ladybird girl ladybird i make little crochet circles and sewed them on not sure what i was trying to do here...i think i was trying to show off her bangs. flying away. which way? zipping by....... hello :)

I did pick up some needles and knit a baby hat this week.  I have an upcoming baby shower in the next 2 months and I don’t want to catch myself rushing trying to make something. 🙂  I almost forgot how to knit i’ve been doing nothing but crocheting lately!

Mine isn’t as cute as the one in the picture.  But it’s still cute. 🙂  brioche rib in the round…it’s a beautiful thing!

I’m working on a sweater in the same yarn to give as a gift at the shower.  i wish i could say i had it done already….sigh. 🙂

have a great weekend, everyone!  thank you for stopping by!

Thursday Purse-Day!!

Hello all. 🙂

Happy Thursday.  It’s time for another purse!  WHEEEEE!!

Isn't it prettty??

so me :)

I had to do some work at a location very far from me.  It’s so far, it’s next to the outlet malls.  SOOOO…since I was out there….I figured I would just drive thru and see if anything caught my eye.  I knew good and well the Coach outlet was out there.  But was I feeling the pull?  It was like a tractor beam as soon as I saw the sign.  It didn’t help things that when I walked in, i was handed a 30% off total purchase coupon.  tee hee.

So I have FO’s to show off.  Well, yes and no.  I had made plans to take pictures of them in the bluebonnets that are all a-bloom here in Texas.  But it was very cold and rainy all week.  Well, COLD.  i loved it.   This weekend it’s supposed to be really warm, so maybe I’ll trek out this weekend to take some pictures of the toys out in the bluebonnets. 🙂

But until then…I’ll show what I got.

Da-Da Da-Da being sneaky on the stairs. I think Da-Da got stuck

Project:  Jaja the huggable ninja
Yarn: Debbie Macomber Morning Glory Cotton
Amount Used:  1.25 skeins
Color:  pink
Hook Size: D hook / 3.25 mm
Date Started: Mar 19, 2011
Date Finished: Mar 27, 2011

I call the toy Da-Da b/c i’m not all that clever.  The pattern name is JaJa which is hilairous…but Da-Da in cantonese means “hit-hit”.  I thought that was funny.  Since it IS a ninja…they hit right? hahah. duh.

I’m not too sure about the eyes either.  I had reservations about making the eyes pink.  But i tried w/ black yarn and it was much too harsh.  So i left them pink and I think it looks fine.  A few of my friends did not agree. hahaha.

I have complaints about the yarn.  Everyone that saw me using the yarn said “ew…that looks splitty.”  It was splitty as hell!! stupid yarn.  but it might have been a crappy ball.  the 2nd ball i cracked open wasn’t as splitty.  the first ball was practically unraveling itself.  VERY frustrating.

I almost finished another toy, but I just need embroidery thread to do the hair strands and her mouth.

so i guess this is a preview:

ladybughead ladybug2 ladybug

I think it would be cute to put this doll in the bluebonnets to take pics.  Esp since it is a ladybug doll. 🙂   This is to accompany the ballerina doll i did months ago.  big sister and little sister both have to have dolls or else one gets mad at the other.  sigh.  siblings.

That’s all for now.  hopefully i’ll have better pictures later on this weekend. 🙂

have a great weekend everyone!

Thursday Purse-Day!

i almost went to bed just now before I realized it was Thursday (early am) and i have stuff to post 🙂   How did everyone’s week go?  I had a pretty ok week.  I had to baby sit a couple of cats for an entire week.  I miss having a cat around here, but then i DO NOT miss it.  these kittens were really scared of me for the first 3 days.  Then on the 4th day, the girl kitty was all WHATEVER!! and this was HER house…not mine.  she was all over me constantly!  and whenever i was knitting?  oh forget it.  she was constantly grabbing for yarn, projects and scratching the hell out of me in the process.  Then the boy kitty decided on the 5th day that he was my bff and would NOT leave me alone. 🙂  very sweet…but i forgot how allergic I am to these cats.  i was itching like crazy and I still am, even though they left early afternoon on Weds.   the itching will remind me to watch my mouth before I agree to baby sit cats again. 🙂

I do have a “bag” this week.  Sorry, I again stole the pics off the manufacturer website.  Their pics rock!  Who am I to compete?

I got myself a color nook the other day after swearing up and down I wouldn’t do it.  but there was a deal on ebay that i could not resist.  so just stamp “SUCKA” on my forehead.   I also turned it into a really cool Android Tablet.  Holla!  I’m so cool. hahahaahah.  jk.   I love this case b/c you can stand it up like an easel.  this proves to be nice when i’m sitting at my desk and i’m actually reading something while chatting w/ my friend on IM.

So the gifts I finished up last week were received by their intendeds yesterday.  I got txt’s from both saying big thank you’s. 🙂  this makes me so happies. 😀  My friend Joseph said “oh I can tell your skills have improved.”  SAY WHAT?  The slippers i gave to him were almost exactly like the ones I gave to him before?  WTF is he talking about?  improved…..p-shah!

Then the girl that got the giraffe had a bit of envy over the sparkly unicorn.  oops. 🙂  But she also told her mom “Wow.  Auntie Jen is a good knitter.” hAhAHAHAhA!  funny girl!  The little one didn’t get to see her unicorn yet.  So i’m waiting to see her response. …

i was asked to make another unicorn for my friend’s new baby boy, but i said “UNICORN? for a BOY???”  she asked me to just pick something and make it…whatever i see fit.  So I decided on a puppy dog!  i searched on Ravelry and found this cute little puppy pattern and i thought it was hilarious.

Some of you might ask why I picked these colors.  Some people already asked me that question.’s what I had laying around that i felt was washable for mommy.   I didn’t expect him to come out so GREEN.   I call him Stumpy b/c his legs are so stumpy 🙂  and yeah his arm are supposed to stick out like that.   I used safety eyes and nose instead of buttons since the doll is going to a baby.  so my little puppy looks a little different from the one in the pattern.   and as usual w/ amigurumi, i used smaller yarn and hook than the pattern called for.

What is this?  It’s a Yoda baby Bottle Cozy.  I found it ages ago and wanted it make it.  I’m finally mailing off that Yoda sweater i did months ago for a baby that might be too big for it now.  Sigh.  But im mailing it off tomorrow!  And i’m mailing it off w/ this bottle cozy for laughs.  My bottle cozy isn’t as cute as the one in the example.  🙁   i’m not 1000% pleased.  I think it’s where i put his eyes.  sigh.

Ok folks. that’s all I’ve got for now. 🙂  have a great weekend!!

Thursday…PURSE DAY!! SAY WHAT?!?!?!

Hello friends. 🙂  Thank you for coming back!  I hope the spring hasn’t come to your area too early like it has here for me.  My allergies are killing me!  Granted they aren’t as bad as they used to be, but i’m very tired all the time lately.  I don’t like that tired feeling.

I actually have a bag to show off this week. 🙂

Sorry, I stole a photo off some website rather than going all the way downstairs to get my bag to take photos of. :)

Sorry, I stole a photo off some website rather than going all the way downstairs to get my bag to take photos of. :)

I’m going back to cross-body bags for now.  I’m tired of lugging around a big purse that keeps falling off my shoulder!  GRR!  so annoying!  And of course, the bigger the purse, the more crap you put in it right?  Well, that’s what I do personally.   I saw this sucker when I went to Academy to buy some new shoes.  Sigh.  It pulled me in…screaming and yelling the whole time.  BUY ME BUY MEEEE!  🙁

I’ve been a busy bee this week.  I’ve caught up on some promised gifts.

I usually love this pattern, but this time around i was getting annoyed.  I think it’s b/c the big needles, the yarn, wasn’t the most comfortable thing to knit.  Still got it done. 🙂

I held one strand of each color together.  My friend Joseph requested these slippers and he wanted blue.  The only color of blue I could find was this bright-ish blue and I couldn’t stand it.  So that’s why I mixed in the grey.   If i had more time that day, i would have gone to another Joann’s store and bought the color of blue i was wanting in Bernat Roving. But the Joann’s i was at did not have that color…so stupid me I compromised b/c i’m impatient. and lame. 🙂

I had originally made Joseph a pair of slippers for his birthday back in March of 2006.  He LOVES those slippers so much.  He wears them all the time.  he loves them so much, he wore holes into the big toe area on both slippers and he started whining about how he needed a new pair.  His birthday just passed yesterday and he’s got himself a new pair.  The old pair lasted 5 years of very continuous wear.  The only time he doesn’t wear them is in the summer.  Weirdo. hahaha.  But i’m glad he loves them so much.

I was a crocheting fool this week too.

So I made this giraffe for the big sister of the girl that I made the Unicorn for last week.  STupid me, when I picked up the hook, i thought it was a G hook, but it was an E hook.  It was dark in here, it was 1am…i was a bit tired…sue me.  By the time I finished the head and the neck, I started to realize, hey…this is way smaller than the UNICORN!!!  Then I looked at the hook and realized my mistake.  SIGH.  So i thought, Ok..finish the giraffe and then save it for a give-a-way to someone else. Then remake the giraffe w/ bigger hook.  oh no.  he’s SO cute so tiny.    You can just eat him up!!

I attached the legs correctly this time and guess what.  It can stand up on it’s own.  duh.

So since the giraffe was so much smaller than the unicorn…i made ANOTHER unicorn.

hello tiny unicorn check out my purple mane. :) purple mane...purple mane.... i'm so cute and stumpy! check out my backside. (tee hee)

You can’t tell in the pictures, but the white yarn I picked is sparkly. 😀   it’s SO CUTE.  When I told my friend about the mix up on the unicorns, she said NO NO! don’t go thru the trouble!  We’ll take the big one!  I said NO!  this one will be way superior!  She said “ok fine.”  She agreed w/ me tonight that it’s better.  she’s so excited…she wants to show the kids the dolls so bad.  BUT…i tend to take a long time to send knit gifts off (dont ask me why) and she doesn’t want to hear the kids nagging for days about where their toys are.  sigh.   I’m happy that Mama is happy.

Here’s pics of them together. 🙂

we like to snuggle although the giraffe is way taller than the unicorn. Unicorn is just going to have to bump the giraffe w/ it's horn. excuse us, please. No comments on the unicorn's shortness please. :) Are you looking at our bums? you are looking at our bums, you cheeky monkey!

I’ve already been asked what I’m going to do w/ the big unicorn.  It’s been promised to someone who has been asking since Christmas how come Santa didn’t give her a dang unicorn.  Rather than telling her the truth, her aunt asked me if she could have the big unicorn so she can live in ignorant bliss for yet another year. 🙂  So it’s going to be her gift from the Easter Bunny since Santa can’t deliver. 🙂

have a great weekend everyone!!!

Whoa. Sorry folks for being so absent.

I didn’t realize I hadn’t posted anything in a month.  wow.   Sorry friends. 🙂  hahaahahah.

honestly, the main reason why I hadn’t posted anything in a while is b/c my knitting was on a slight hold.  i wasn’t producing too much and felt…well, w/o a bag to show off or knitting, what else is there? 🙂 hahaah

Plus i had a business trip i took last week and I planned on knitting like a fool in my hotel room, but omg!  Doing all these stupid workshops and stuff all day really wore me out.  i was in bed by 11p every night!  say what?! hahaha.

I do have some stuff to show off today.  No bag though.  sorry folks. 🙂

This little hat took me like 2 hours to make hahahaa.  A friend of mine asked me to make a quick hat for another friend of hers.  This was a quick hat that needed to be shipped off within 2 days.    Thank you, bulky yarn and fat needles. 🙂   i did the pom pom on the hat instead of a tie b/c pompoms are awesome. 🙂

I did manage to make something super cute this week. 🙂

So i made this for my friend’s daughter.  i was told she was requesting another doll from Auntie Jen.  Who is Auntie Jen to deny a child a new toy?  Esp one made by Auntie Jen’s hands? hahaha.  I showed the unicorn to the girl’s mom already and she was all OMG OMG OMG!! SHE’S GOING TO LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. apparently every day when they drive to pick up older sister from school, they drive by some horses and she goes hog wild over them.  so this is good 🙂   granted it IS a unicorn and not a horse…but whatever. 🙂 hahahah.   I’m pretty pleased w/ how it came out!

I think that’s all folks.  have a great weekend!  I promise not to be such a stranger!

Thursday, Still No Purse-Day

I’m keeping up w/ my promise to cut down on buying stuff.  😀  hahah.  and i haven’t found any more purses in my arsenal that I haven’t shown on here yet.  So we are purse-free again today.

I do have a cute FO to show off. 🙂

Aren’t these CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE?????  I did not put a pearl in the center b/c while I do have some pearl beads, I did not have a needle that would fit thru the center so I could attach them properly.  So I just used a small 3 bead cluster of size 6 seed beads I had laying around.

Don’t you just want to eat them!?

I did have alot of issues w/ the pattern.  I had to re-write alot of it to how I saw the bootie should be in comparison to the pictures she posted online.  My end result w/ the unedited pattern ended up w/ a bootie that did not make sense.  who knows.  maybe i’m being cocky w/ my crochet skills.  maybe my skills suck.  maybe I just didn’t understand how she wrote it, but how she wrote it is correct.  Maybe the pattern is totally flawed and I am the most awesome crocheter that ever lived. lol.  jk.  nah. 🙂 it’s not that last thing.  but i got the end result and I’m pleased.

I don’t have much going on this week.  and I realized the other day that I forgot to post last week.  that’s what not having any FO’s to show off or having any purses to show off does to my blogging.  sigh.  so sad. 🙂

have a great weekend everyone!

Thursday Purse-Day!

Hi all.  I hope you are having a good week. I can’t believe it’s already Thursday.  I can’t believe it’s almost thanksgiving.  wtf?! 🙂

Here is this week’s bag….

cinchy bag cinchy bag flat inside

Does it surprise you that I have hello kitty fabric?  It shouldn’t. hahaah  actually, the bag was made from a shower curtain I decided not to hang in the bathroom anymore.  mainly b/c the boy was always all “OMG i can’t believe you have a HK shower curtain…”   plus i tend to get tired of shower curtains and get a new one when I see one I love.  So i took it and used the fabric for things like my ironing board cover and for the outside of this little bag.  I made this little bag for my friend’s daughter…but i never really finished it.  It’s supposed to have a bow.  bah.  I’m trying to find a picture of the original bag and I can’t find it.  booo.  anyway, i never did the bow so now this bag sits mostly done. hahaha.  it’s a very cute bag for a little girl!!  i’m just not in a good photo mode to take a better picture of it all.   anyway, the sewing pattern is fairly simple!  Sewing is fun, but then it’s not fun (according to Janice).  all the work that goes into cutting the fabric really kills me.  i don’t mind ironing, etc…it’s the cutting that really sucks! i’m so so bad at cutting fabric!

I went to Boerne, TX for Kid N’ Ewe and Lamas too!  I had alot of fun!  I got away for a couple of days and bought too much stuff, ate too much, laughed too much.  It was a weekend of gluttony.   I fell in love w/ something at the festival and I brought it home w/ me….

cricket loom loom

I fell in love w/ the Cricket loom.  I saw all these woven scarves while out there.  I have expressed interest in a loom in the past verbally, but never planned on doing anything with it.  Then boom.  it hit me right across the face and i was staring at it…drooling.  So on the loom is my first attempt at warping and doing a bit of weaving.  I stopped b/c I realized I needed to finish some other stuff before I start playing around w/ the loom, so i just stopped.  I’ll get back to it soon.  Warping it wasn’t hard at all!  and it wasn’t that annoying.  I say this b/c it was the first time I ever did it.   The yarn on the loom came with the box and i just followed the directions in the box as well as watched a few videos on youtube on how to do this. 😀  It’s fun!  I can’t wait to start making sock yarn scarves.  that’s my plan, anyway! hahahaha.

Our accommodations in Boerne were very nice.   We rented a cabin on a ranch that was tucked away in the middle of nowhere w/ a beautiful view of the hill country.  and there was a hot tub on our deck for our enjoyment.  HELLLOOOO!

I did finish another bunny for my friend’s daughter.

I would have finished it faster, but i wasn’t really feeling the love for SC over and over again at the moment.  My friend requested this doll for her daughter and she wanted it almost exactly like the last one I made.  That’s the funny thing about when friends ask for things. they want it EXACTLY as i did the last one.  i don’t like doing things EXACTLY as I did before.  i really don’t.  mainly b/c i hate like feeling like a factory where I make only one thing one way.  But whatever.  i managed to convince her that this color was better for her daughter, but i flat out refused to make it in white white.   It didn’t help much that while I was in Boerne, i broke my only crochet hook and I had to wait until the next day to hunt a new one down.  it’s not like it was difficult, but still!  busted up my groove!

I’m almost done w/ the first herringbone glove. why is it taking me so long?  I had to rip back 3 inches last week due to my concerns over the thumb increases.  I really screwed up there!!!!  So i had to rip it back and make it right.  stupid me.  and I didn’t get as much knitting done as I had hoped this week.  Work really gets in the way!!  GRRRR.

herringbone4 the thumb is now proper!

i’m about to do the fingers and thumb now. 🙂 wheee!

ok y’all.  i fell asleep last night and then managed to wake up really early to post today. hahahaha.  i think i’m going to go back to bed for a little while before I have to hit up work.

have a great day/weekend!

Thursday Purse-Day!!

Hello everyone!  Happy Thursday!   I hope your week has been going well so far.

It’s cold all up here in DFW this week.  YIPPEE!  time to bust out the sweaters and boots and jeans!  i wonder how long this “cold” will stay w/ us.  you just never know around here.  it was 85 degrees on Halloween. wtf?

No more red fever here in DFW either.  The Rangers were not successful in getting the World Series title this year.  too bad.  I got so caught up in it too…i felt the pain…the sting of loss.  I never really cared before.   sigh.  Droopy antlers and droopy claws.   🙁  I read someone’s blog post the other day about how they wished they could make an antler hat in time for the world series.  I found a couple of ravelry that were kind of funny. 🙂  I might make one one day for laughs.

So i actually voted yesterday!  I’ve never voted before and I felt like a big girl after I did it.   i’ve popped my cherry.  hahahaha.  This shocked a few of my friends when I told them I did.   But i was kind of sad when they didn’t give me a sticker when i left.  🙁  So i found this image on the internet and am claiming it as my sticker.    I’m a grown up!

noooooooooook!! easel case! :)

So i got the Nook as a gift last week from the boy.  He said he heard me talking about how I was looking for a used one (b/c i don’t need a NEW one since i really don’t read all that much) and he found me one. 🙂  WHEEE!  Thank you, honey bunny. 🙂   and of course I had to buy a little case for it.  I’ve liked this case since I saw it last year.  it’s so cool.  i love the easel factor.  The manager at the BN we hang out at convinced me last year that it was the superior one b/c it can sit up while i look at my pdf patterns.  :O  genious!

slippers for the boy they are too big for my little feet hopefully they will fit his feet. easy and simple...yet nice. :)

Project:  Nola’s Slipper Pattern (direct pattern link)

These don’t take long to make at all.  It took me a few days b/c it took me a day or two to get motivated to do the 2nd slipper.  I got distracted w/ another project.  haha.  I made these slippers for the boy since it’s starting to get cold around here and he was complaining the other day that his feet were cold when he went to bed.  These slippers knit up fast and are cute and keep you warm.   They look like baby booties for adults to me.   And it requires doubled worsted weight yarn.  WHEE!  Or bulky..whatever floats your boat.  I had to get superwash wool they have to be easy care things…nothing that requires hand washing (lazy doofus).  I considered putting slipper bottoms on these or just the suede patches.  But I think I’m going to just leave them be.   They fit my feet ok…very loose.  So i was a bit worried that I had made them too small.  But i’ve made these before in the same size and they came out fine.  I had Bot-Gurl try them on and they fit her feet just fine she says.  So I’m not that worried anymore. 🙂

OH yeah…I didn’t do the full cuff as written on the pattern.  I just did about 16 rows rather than 28 rows b/c I didn’t know if I would have enough yarn.  Silly me.  I should have left it alone.  But it looks cute w/ the shorter cuff. 😀

I’m doing an ornament exchange w/ some friends and I finished my ornament while doing some online work harassment training at home while the Rangers game was on.  Talk about multi tasking.  hAHAHAH!  If i wasn’t doing something else during that online training, i swear i would have fallen asleep at my desk.  It wasn’t THAT bad…i actually got something out of it.  But i think i wouldn’t have enjoyed it at all if I had to sit there just staring at the screen.   So i think the person that is receiving my ornament rarely checks this blog anymore.  haha.  and if they do…oh well.  they are going to get it within the next week anyway. 😀

The beads really slow you down.  This is an old pattern.  I had to add it into the Rav database b/c no one else has made one, apparently. 🙂  which is too bad b/c I wanted to see other ppl’s ornaments!   A friend of mine shared her ornament patterns w/ me and that’s where I got the pattern from.   There are no instructions on how to add the beads, so I just figured it out.   So i decided to add beads in at every slip stitch spot.  I used a No. 12 hook at first to add the beads in as I went, but I ended up using dental floss to help me load the beads onto the slip stitches b/c I kept bending my hook!  And it made me really mad!!

The beads I used are Mill Hill Glass Seed Beads size 11.

Credit goes to this beading w/ floss tutorial I found on ravelry!

It was a pain to add the beads on….but well worth it, I think!  I tried making another one w/o the beads and i SOOO did not feel the love.  So i ripped it out. Slipping the cover on the ornament and then finishing it off is a bit of a challenge b/c the ornament keeps slipping as you are trying to go round and round and are trying to decrease for the top so the whole thing holds together.   I worked my way around it though w/ some fiddling.
That’s all for now, folks!  have a great knitty weekend! 🙂

Thursday Purse-Day!!

HEllo all!  Happy Thursday!  It’s almost the weekend!  WHEEE!!!

Have y’all caught the fever?  The RED fever?  I’m talking about the Texas Rangers being in the World Series!!  I admit, I’m like the biggest non-sports person around.  But I have to say, I’ve caught the fever.  Mainly b/c the boy is so into it and I have to pay attention.  But the majority of my co-workers and some of my friends are reallllllllllllly into the Rangers, esp now since they are in the World Series.   Things are a’buzzin’ here w/ all baseball talk.  I found myself watching the 2nd half of Game 1 w/o boredom.  I actually paid attention and was getting mad as we were losing.  Sigh.  “we”.  i’m not one of those people, really.

Here is this week’s bag:

another BuiltNY bag my netbook is inside. :)

I really need to stop shopping the clearance areas at Target.  Bad thing is that I know where they all are!  I was just browsing, looking for batteries and such on clearance and i found this bag for $5.  how can i say no to a jaunty flower print!?  that’s like asking me to say no to ice cream!! hahaha.

So i got a few things done this week.  last night i got this bug to make a poofy beret….so i found one to make.

I had some serious issues w/ this pattern.  Looks easy right?  a big poofy ribbed hat?  No.  it’s some kind of special rib and the pattern doesn’t really explain it very clearly how to do it.  So you have to google videos on how to do that stitch.  it looks weird while you do it too.   I’m lucky ravelry lets you search for helpful notes b/c I found some that helped me ALOT.  if I didn’t read these notes, i would have just ripped it all out and thrown it all away.  hahahaa.  I saw jeninchicago’s project page and she had all these helpful notes.  I’m not going to copy and paste, just redirecting you to her project page to see what she said.

When i seamed up the hat, i pulled too tight at the top which is why the top view of the hat looks all weird and twisty.   please forgive me.  I haven’t blocked the hat yet.  But i can’t wait to wear it this winter. 🙂

I finished another little doll too.

these are just some quick pics i took of the doll on my desk so i could show my friend the doll I will be gifting to her little girl.  Isn’t this little dancer cute?  I’m still debating about putting on a mouth.  She looks so cute W/O the mouth.  That is the hello kitty lover in me talking. 🙂

I had some issues w/ the feet for a couple of days.  I finally decided to do some searching for errata.  found none.  then i emailed the designer.  no response (i dont’ think she checks rav too often).  i finally got a little frustrated and checked my email for some reason and DUH! I found a revised copy of the pattern she had sent to me when i bought the pattern and it addressed the very issue i had problems with!  BIG DUH!!! 🙂

So i gave last week’s featured bunny to my friend at work.  She loved it.  yay!  She showed everyone at work which is flattering…but i hate it when ppl do that.  You know why?  b/c it invites ppl to ask me to make crap for them.  People i don’t like.  people i don’t know.  people i don’t care to do crap for. 🙂   but then I showed my friend a picture of the doll and she went nuts.  she showed EVERYONE At work that had a daughter.  i was all NO NO STOP IT!  i did it to myself, I know.  but then one girl asked if i could make one for her daughter (for money of course), and i agreed b/c we are good friends.   I had issues w/ ppl i DO NOT talk to asking me to do it.  I know they said they would pay me, but I don’t want to.  I told a lot of those ppl i was far too busy this season to start making dolls for their daughters.   I’ve got a lot on my plate already 🙂

anyway..i think that’s all for now, folks. 🙂  have a great day/weekend!  Go Rangers. 🙂

Thursday Purse-Day!

Happy Thursday everyone!  I hope your week is going well. 🙂  Not much is going on in my neck of the woods.    I’m actually trying to find a time balance to get everything I need to get done.  Everyone knows the holidays are coming up…and alot of ppl want gifts made.  I’ve been asked to make a few things for friends (for pay) and I fear I may have taken on more than I can really handle.   This is mainly b/c I can’t knit at work anymore (very sad.:()  and the fact that when I am home, i sometimes just feel like doing nothing.   What I really should do is learn how to say NO. hahahah  oh well.  Live and learn.

Here is this week’s bag!!

So I’m being really lazy today and stealing the photo off the manufacturer’s website.  This is a Chil bag by Blue Avocado.  This is one of those bags that can keep your groceries cold for up to 3 hours.  My favorite Asian grocery store is about 25-30 min away from where I live and I am extremely fearful of my food melting or getting warm…so this is a good addition to my arsenal. 🙂  I found it at Tuesday Morning for $5! WHEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!   According to their website, it replaces 3 grocery bags.  and

  • keeps food either hot or cold for 3 hours
  • messenger style strap
  • holds 20 lbs of frozen food
  • made from recycled materials

This week has been the week of crochet.  I haven’t done much knitting mainly b/c the things I have to knit right now are boring me to tears.  (boring plain garter stitch).  I’m helping someone finish up a jacket and the sleeves are boring.  the 60″ collar is boring me to death.  and for some reason, the whole jacket is pieced together w/ 3-needle bind off.  I like 3-needle bind off, but eh.  I’m kind of over it now.  I know it makes that nice ridge and blah blah blah…but honestly I don’ t like that ridge anymore.  but that is one of the “features” of the jacket.   I’ll be happy to get this stupid jacket off my mind.

So here are some of the FO’s I finished this week:

Hello, Mere! Mere is a little scared, since she's so new. :) Her long hair with a flower in it. :) Swimming to the left. she likes to put her hands together as she swims away. Hello, everyone :) ok her hair isn't really that long. i just kept hacking away at it to even it out. her flattened body. where are her arms!??!?! arm attachment surgery. :)

The last time I did this pattern, i waited forever to finish it b/c i’m stupid.  i think the last time I did this, i had a hard time understanding how to do the hair.  I get it more now than I did before.  The hair is what takes the longest.  I think the amount of time it took me to do the hair, it took me less time to do the entire rest of the body.  When i got home from knit night on Thurs, I was on a roll w/ the hair and managed to finish that within a few hours.  There were still ways I could have improved on how i did it.  But that’s ok.  This little mermaid is quite the hit. 🙂   she’s awfully cute!  This is for a friend at work that asked me to make one for her daughter so she could give it to her for Christmas.  I wanted to make sure I got it made and out of the way.

Hello bun bun! aren't you a cutie pie? thinking about who my new owner will be.... no scarf, flower moved up to the ear. all i need is a grass skirt and I will be a hawaiian bunny! or I can be a snow bunny w/ just a scarf on or I can be here in the corner, naked. ok i'm a naked bunny now.

This is one of my favorite amigurumi patterns.  Mainly b/c it’s simple and easy.  I decided to stuff the legs on this one.  I’ve never done that before.  I’m very pleased!  My friend, crazy Kathy suggested I put on a pom pom on her butt.  hahaha.  I didn’t do it.  I’m pretty weird about pompoms.  When I make them, I make them pretty big and then i hack away at it until it’s perfectly fluffy.  I’m being kind of lazy and not feeling the love for the pompom butt.  I think it’s b/c the rest of the bunny is smooth and not fluffy.  This was made for a co-worker’s daughter.  🙂  She’s being given away tomorrow.  I did feel that the bunny needed an accessory of some kind, which is why she has the scarf.  and of course, i’m obsessed w/ those little crochet flowers!  OMG!  they are just so cute on EVERYTHING!!  just adds a touch of girlyness to everything. 🙂  well, i guess it wouldn’t be cute on something for a boy…but whatever. 😀

I’m working on a little ballerina doll which is similar to the mermaid doll.  it’s super cute and I can’t wait to see it done.  I already have her little head all finished with the bun in the hair.  squee! ;D

I couldn’t help but that pics of the little head.   it’s just so cute and squishy. 🙂

have a great weekend everyone!
