Thursday Purse-Day!

Hi Everyone!  I hope your week has been going well so far. 🙂  It’s Thursday.  it’s almost the weekend!

here is this week’s bag:

columbia bag open back

I cheated this week and stole the pics off the manufacturer website.  I’m too lazy to go downstairs and get the bag.  So this is my new bag right now.  It’s super light and portable and fits all my criteria. 🙂 my bag as of late has been bigger and heavier.  and getting way too heavy.  I needed to lighten my load! 🙂  I got it at Academy Sports for $22. 🙂  whee!

So i got a bit of start-itis this week and started a new bolero and some toddler/kid things.  I’m still working on my shawl which is growing quite nicely. 🙂  but i started something last night and just finished it now.  It’s quite adorable.   sadly, this is my only FO of the week.

So the little top is super fast.  it takes longer to measure, press, sew on the fabric than it does to knit the little top.  it’s super cute and the pattern is very detailed and clear.  I am scared it’s not going to fit my friend’s daughter.  I think it’s a tad bit too small.  But I can find some child it will fit…i was just hoping it would fit that one child.   I was making a matching dress for her big sister, but now i’m a bit nervous it won’t fit her.   So we’ll see.  I need to grab a child I can try this dress on rather than Zoe. 🙂

I bought the fabric at hobby Lobby too. 🙂  cute isn’t it?? 😀

I’m looking forward to the weekend.  i got some egg rolls rolled up for Nanc’s crafter day!!  We’re going to silk screen tshirts and do some bleaching of tshirts!  WHEE!  i love crafter day at their house!!!

Thursday Purse-Day!

Happy Thursday, everyone!  I hope everyone is having a good week so far!

Here is this week’s bag!

I LOVE THIS BAG!! i went looking for a new camera flash this week (didn’t buy one though….too expensive!) and i found this bag and i just had to have it.  I love patent leather bags.  I love bowler bags!  i love bowling shoes too…but i don’t love to bowl.  go figure.   but i just had to have it! 🙂

I got a few things done this week.  I’ve been in a small-project roll and been cranking them out a bit.

So it didn’t take me months and months to finish this.  It took me months and months to get back to that yarn store to get this yarn in the same color.   What i SHOULD have done is just redone it in a diff. yarn! hahahaa.   i did an extra 6 rows to make it long enough to cover my ears.   The pattern is really hard to read and understand b/c how you do the crochet band isn’t clear.  I had to rely very heavily on the pictures provided to figure it out.

I made a little baby set too.

I love how the hat came out. I love this yarn!!!!  the colors really POP!  I just made a basic baby hat casting on 88 sts, knitting until i had about 4″ and then doing decreases.  now…here again is another example of how I screw things up b/c i gloss over things.  I cast on 98 sts thinking it was 88.  i didn’t count after i cast on.  and I didn’t realize I had done this until after I knit 4″ and was trying to do the decreases and the math wasn’t working out right.  DUH.  so the hat is larger than I wanted it to be.  But baby can always grow into it.

still working on the Dianna shawl and working on a new pair of go-lightly gloves for a gift to someone who is a little bit of a hero to me. 🙂  On the Dianna shawl?  yeah….i did another one of those extra square screw ups and didn’t realize it until I got to the end of the tier.  sigh.  I dont know what’s wrong w/ my brain lately!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend. 🙂

Thursday Purse-Day!!

Happy Thursday everyone! 🙂  I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!

Here is this week’s bag!

another mini backpack. :)

I got another mini backpack this week. I just happen to be at Office Depot looking for a new sharpie pen (retractable!!!) w/o any success.  I wandered to the backpack area and saw this gem on sale for $14.99.  I had to get it.  Imagine my happiness when it rang up $4.98.  WHEEEEEEEEEE!

So this week i have one FO.  I started a bunch of crap this week tho.  i’ve got startitis bad.

I’m still working on the light blue shawl.  The bind off is a b*tch.  you have to increase to make the ruffle at the end and OMFG..its bloody awful 🙂   I’ts not really that bad….just boring as hell.  I think i have like 2000 stitches on there.  and im not done increasing yet.  I’m sooood dreading the bind off.

I started a cowl for a friend this week.  I couldn’t wait to get started on it and when I got home one day last week, I immediately cast on.  but then I put it away for a few days b/c I ran out of beads for it.  I’ll get it done in a few days I hope!

Still working on the prayer shawl.  I mucked it up last week and had to tink back about 7 rows .  sigh.  I keep better track now and it’s going more smoothly. 🙂

I started another boyfriend hat…but this one is for my widdle brudda.  I’m doing it in the UT colors so I hope he really likes this hat.  it’s very him.  here is a preview of what i’ve got going on so far with it.  I wanted to hurry up and get it done so he can wear it to any games he goes to this fall. 🙂

isn't it cute? i really like the color of the yarn

what else…oh an FO! 🙂

THis was a fast knit.  Size US15’s?  OMG.  i felt like i was rowing a freaggin boat considering i’m doing other projects on tiny needles.   This is for a work friend that requested this specific item.  She had her baby yesterday.  I had to step it up and have it done asap.  🙂  I get to see her at work tomorrow, so I wanted to have it ready for when I saw her tomorrow.

I got something nerd-tastic in the mail today. 🙂  I got one for myself and my widdle brudda.

can you hear the theme song playing in your head right now? this sucker isn't flimsy! it's hEAVY!! whee! now I need to break it in and open a beer w/ it :) too bad I dont drink...

It’s a U.S.S Enterprise bottle opener!!  I can’t wait to try it out.  ahahahah.  lame! 🙂

Sad news… My childhood cat, Poopy (YES…her name was Poopy!) is no longer with us. 🙁  My parents found out last week that she had lukemia and she progressively got worse throughout the week.  My mom made the decision yesterday to send her ahead to heaven to wait with Sassy for us.

Poopy was the same age as Sassy…they were both 15.  I wasn’t allowed to bring her to college with me b/c (as much as they hate to admit it) my family was very attached to her.   I couldn’t bring Poopy w/ me here, so that’s when I found Sassy at a local shelter.   She was the meanest little kitten when we got her, but sweet at the same time.  she was this little ball of grey fur that would crawl into the keyboard drawer and bite us as we tried to do work on our old 386 pc. 🙂  I need to dig up my old pics of her as a kitten.  she was such an adorable little thing.   She would wake me up every morning by licking my face for about 20 min.  Irritiating, but so so sweet.   She was mean as hell too though.  She would come for lovin and whenever she was ready for you to stop, she would take a big chomp out of your hand and run off, cackling.   when she was a kitten, she would hide under our beds and as we walked by, she would attack our feet, biting and scratching.  she was crazy, but we loved her alot.

Sigh.  Lord, please take good care of her too.  Thanks for letting us have her for so long.

I love you, Poopycat.

I should go to sleep now.  i have a long long day tomorrow…..

everyone have a great weekend. 🙂

Thursday Purse-Day!

Hey everyone! 🙂  happy Thursday!!  one more day till the weekend!!  it’s weird..when i used to work full weekends, i used to just not care about it being mid-week.  Now that I get 2 days off in a row and one day being a Saturday..i’m all looking forward to it now! 😀 hahaah

Here is this week’s bag…this is for Debbie and Lee. 🙂

So I’ve got some FO’s this week to show off! 🙂

I love this hat.  LOVE IT.  i’ve made a few of these and yeah…the ribbing is a bit  boring, but the decreases make it exciting at the end. hahaahaha!!  I love how it came out in the DK yarn.   I think I’ve been converted.   to adjust the pattern b/c of the needle size difference and yarn weight…i just cast on 120 sts and followed the pattern as written.  I actually knit the straight part to 7″ rather than the 5.5″.  I figured I had to b/c the decreases take less than an inch so I had to account for that.

So last week i wrote that I finished that beret.  I washed it and didn’t block it properly.  I screwed up and stretched it out a bit.  GRRRRR.   but it’s alright I guess.  It doesn’t fit my head right.  GRRRRR.

I’m still very unhappy w/ the colorway interfering w/ the lace pattern.  sigh.  Will learn for next time.   it was a fun hat to do though.  MARKERS ARE YOUR FRIENDS!!

I started a prayer shawl for someone I know that is going thru chemo right now.  She might not need the prayer shawl, but I”m making it for her just in case she ends up needing it. 🙂

stole colors are nummy

I’ve already screwed up on this a few times and had some issues w/ needle size b/c i picked a yarn weight that doesn’t match what the pattern calls for.  I had to do like 4 gauge swatches before I settled on a needle size.  then I did 1.5 repeats of the pattern before I realized something was wrong.  I decided i hate hate hate patterns that are written out stitch by stitch.  so i charted it.  yeah….i charted it a bit incorrectly.  DOH!!  So i ripped it all out, cast on less stitches than my original adjustment and i’m doing ok so far. 🙂  (Crossing fingers)

I think that’s it for now. 🙂  Have a great weekend everyone!  I’m going to see DM this weekend!  Hopefully I won’t melt at the concert! 🙂

Thursday Purse-Day!

Hello everyone. 🙂  Happy thursday!  I hope everyone is well!

This week’s bag is another Target gem. 🙂

back to the shoulder bags? close up

I couldnt’ decide on this color or a teal blue.  Pink/Purple always win though right? hAHAHA.  it’s a roomy bag and i’m considering switching over to it this week. 🙂  I’m still loving the mini-backpack, but pulling it down to get things out of it is starting to annoy me.  (that’s always been my issue w/ backpacks).  but i love being handsfree 🙂

I finished the toddler sweater.  I’m a bit iffy about my choice of yarn.  Not the color, the yarn is kind of fuzzy when it shoudln’t be.  I’m not sure why it’s so fuzzy…it’s kind of annoying to me.

It's too big for Zoe. :) supposed to fit an 18 mo old baby

I’ve made this sweater like 5 times now and I honestly never really get tired of it .  I love the reactions it gets from people b/c it’s just so dang cute.  This is going to be a state fair submission as well, then given to my friend Joseph so he can gift it to his godson at Christmas time.  So it serves a double purpose! hehehe

I went on a yarn crawl w/ some friends on Saturday I didn’t go CRAZY, but i did buy some yarn.  I bought some 6-ply Onlinie sock yarn and of course a couple of nights ago, I cast on for a pair of toe-up socks.  so far they are looking good.

look at the cute toes! 🙂

That’s all I got for this week folks. 🙂   Have a great weekend!

Thursday Purse-Day!!

Happy Thursday everyone. 🙂   I hope everyone has a fantastic day/weekend/week!

This week’s bag is a little different. 🙂

what's inside? that a sewing machine!? IT is! the hello kitty sewing machine!

This is my carrying case for my hello kitty sewing machine.  i haven’t used it since I upgraded to the baby Bernina, but I won’t give this one up. 🙂   It’s got sentimental value to me.  Speaking of sewing, I haven’t sewn anything in a while.  hmm…that might have to change very soon. 🙂   Anyway, when i took that sewing lesson w/ that one girl, she commented on how happy my machine and it’s bag made her when she looked at it.  *warm fuzzies*

I’m ALMOST done w/ the State Fair Shawl.  2 more rows…and a massive bind-off and I am DONE baby.  I need more beads though…so i’m picking some up today and then I will finish it off.  WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEee.

in the mean time i have had some startitis and some finish-itis.   I did a couple of baby bonnets to soothe my frustration w/ the slow-moving shawl.

bonnet1 zoe's head is too big for the bonnet see? too small bonnet hello zoe

i'm not happy w/ how this turned out fits zoe better though meh hello zoe. :)

I’m not too happy w/ the multi color pink.  eh.  it kind of loses the pattern in the colorway.  So i probably won’t do the sweater in the multi-pink.  The baby pink came out really cute. 🙂

So I decided when I sent in my state fair fees that I would submit a couple of other things as well for competition. 🙂  I’ve decided to submit my version of the Shalom cardi for competition as an “original design” since i did have to rewrite the whole thing. 🙂  And I’ve decided to submit a toddler set for competition….a set I haven’t knit yet.  whoops. 🙂  tee hee

That’s all I got for now, folks. 🙂   Hopefully I’ll be posting completed shawl photos this weekend! 🙂

Thursday Purse-Day!

Hi all.

Sorry for the “late” post for the early risers.  I fell asleep watching tv last night and woke up around 4a.   So I guess I’m up for the day or something.  hahaah. who knows.

This week’s bag is a CUTE one!! 🙂

meow meow meow the back is cute!

how cute is this??? it’s so cute i just want to squish it and LOVE IT!!!   I got it on Saturday when I was at A-Kon walking around and shopping the dealer’s rooms.  I wanted to buy so much more from that dealer, but the stupid hag didn’t take credit cards and silly me…i didn’t have THAT much cash on me.  bah!!

I haven’t been doing much the last week.  I did finish knitting the Slytherin bag, but i still need to do the interfacing and the lining.  I’ve been lazy and I really do need to finish this up soon….

I’m very unhappy w/ how i did the fairisle this time.  It’s too tight and it’s a bit cinchy!  GRRRR.  I was half tempted to rip it out and start over.  What am I?  crazy?  a little I guess.  The bag passed the pre-teen test.  A pre-teen looked at it and claimed that it was awesome.   So ok…maybe I won’t rip it out. 😉  I tried to HDC on the sides to bulk it up so it didn’t look like it had the wah-wahs. hahaha.   We’ll see what happens once I add the lining.

So like I said above…i went to A-Kon 20 on Saturday.   My plans were to go on Fri, Sat and Sun.  But Fri I got stuck at work for freaking forever, so I didn’t make it.  Saturday i was there from 10a – midnight.  I was way too tired to go on Sunday.    While i was waiting in line to get my badge on Saturday, I started a gauge swatch w/ some sparkly sweet-a$$ disco-esque yarn for a sock for myself.  The swatch turned into a baby sock.  I started this when I got in line on Saturday.  By the time i got to the end of the line, I had already finished half of the foot.  Granted, it’s not a huge sock or anything, but I felt a bit of a sense of accomplishment.  Did I take a picture of me knitting in line?  nope.  I’ll tell you this…i’m SO glad I had that knitting w/ me in line b/c i would have murdered the people around me they were being so annoying.   oh but anyway, i think i’m going to make myself some short sock w/ the remaining yarn.

baby socks size comparison w/ a hair barrette. :)

So I got to geek it out a bit on Saturday.  I went with a friend that is into the whole cosplay thing.  No, friends, I did not dress up. 🙂  I went as just me.  🙂  I basically served as his press secretary and photographer.  I had a good time actually.   Just walking around and people watching…it was fun.  I have to admit, I did feel a bit like the odd man out by being dressed in normal clothes.  how odd is that?

I’m not into Anime.  I’ve only seen a couple of movies and such, but I wouldn’t call myself a fan.   i was kind of surprised at the things that go on at these cons.   and I know I shouldn’t have been shocked at the amount of teenagers I saw running around like chickens w/ their heads cut off…but I was.  hahaah.  Alot of people had some fantastic costumes.   I wish I got to shop around more.  There were some fantastic crafty things around.  Actually, I regret not taking more pics of the crafty vendors.  What was I thinking?  I did get myself a new hair barrette. 😀

Kimono flower barrette

Isn’t this cute?  The lady that made it said that the fabric was from recycled kimonos.  sweeeeeet!  I wonder if she has an etsy shop.  dang it.  i didn’t even think to ask until right now. duhhh…

I didn’t get that many pics w/ my own camera, mainly b/c i forgot to switch out the lens and sometimes using a 50mm in these situations aren’t ideal.   I’ll probably post some of the pics I took on Flickr later on this week when I get a chance if you guys really want to see.

I haven’t made any progress on my new sweater.  I would like to have that done soon before it gets TOO hot here.  So just refer back to last week’s photo to see my progress with it. 😛 hahahaha.

And I have decided I want to make another leafy shawl, but out of green/brown sock yarn I have and i want to add some beads for some blingity-bling.  🙂  I made one square and was happy w/ how it came out.  My only debaucle right now is how to do the beads….load ’em up before hand or put them in as I go.  Well, I tried both ways and I like how the beads sit better when I add them as I go rather than loading them up.  The beads just don’t sit right when i slid them into place.  Now I just need to get motivated to do it all over again.  Doing the beads in this manner really slows down how fast you  do the squares.

Sassy’s still doing fine.  Still eating, drinking and snuggling.   Thanks to all who continue to ask about her. 🙂

Have a great week, everyone!

Thursday Purse-Day!!

Hello everyone.  What a wonderful Thurs it is so far. 🙂

Here is this week’s bag!

It’s nothing special…it’s an OLD bag w/ some old projects in it.  Nevertheless…It’s a part of the collection. 🙂

knapsack - me loves the stripes! back i got this puppy at Ski Sun Sports for $5. WHOOOO HOOOO

Isn’t it cute?  I love the stripes on it! 🙂  I found some old knitting projects in it. hahaa.  old = 3 years+  whoops. 🙂

*edit update*

Oh!  I have GOOD NEWS! (Hi Phil!)  Sassy is eating more! YAYAYAY!!!!  last week on Friday she decided to start eating again.  I had to put her in front of her bowl and show her her food, but then she started chowing down.  I nearly started crying.   She did it again on Saturday…more and more.  The vet called me on Monday to see how her progress was and when i told her, she nearly started crying too thru her cheering. hahaah.   So she’s eating better..her appetite is coming back.   Not as much as she used to eat, but she’s doing better.  She was actually bugging me earlier to feed her.  YAY!!!!  Thanks to everyone who’s been thinking about her. 🙂

So I am now free to knit stuff for myself again!  YAYAYAYY!! why?  I’ll show you why.

The Christmas stockings are DONE, MAN!!   So the deal was…i was given the original and I had to make a duplicate.  Then on the original, I was to change the name that was on it from “RICHARD” to “CARSON”.  easy enough right?  wrong.  the name was Fair Isle’d in…not duplicate stitch.  So after much discussion w/ alot of people, at Janice’s suggestion, I just reknit the top part w/ the yarn I had and matched.  That was the best solution.  The other crap i was coming up with was some MacGyver garbage. 🙂 well, i did a little MacGuyver’ing to make this all work.

unraveling the top part. I had already cut off the ribbing part. unraveling....carefully just in case I DO need this part still. almost done. all the white loops are in tact! :) TADA! Seperated and placed on 4 dbl point needles...2 for each section ta da!! i just like how this looks. it looks weird. :) So I'm kitchnering this all together. making some progress. TA DA! ALL DONE!!! :) yeah the green is a bit different, but it's no biggie. :) new stocking (sort of) C...barely fit around the corner of the stocking. hanging on my mantle someone came over and asked me why I still had Christmas stockings still up in May. muahaha!

So in the last 2 pics, the replica is on the left side, the original (ish) is on the right side.  The left stocking is a bit bigger than the original b/c I picked the wrong needle size to replicate.  By the time I realized the size difference, I didn’t give a crap anymore. 🙂   Ah crap…i forgot to take pics of the lining of the new stocking.  Oh well.  I didn’t do that great a job on it and i’m kind of ….shameful to show it.

I finished the little longhorn baby booties as well.

There are a few shawls I want to start.  I can think of 3 right off the top of my head.  But something got me REALLY excited today.

I’ve never done entrelac (knit) before.  I’m excited about this shawl. 🙂  and it’s working up pretty fast once i got it all figured out.  WHEEEEE!!!

ok i’m about to fall asleep!  happy Thursday, everyone!

Thursday Purse-Day!

hello all!  happy Thursday!  How is everyone today?

here’s today’s bag!

dewdrop bag inside dewdrop bag outside of bag

this is a dewdrop bag.  yes i made it.  yes…please do not look at the seams AROUND the handle.  they are messy and crooked! hahaah.  dont you love the fabric though?  i talked about this bag as one of my sewing projects, but i’m posting it up as a bag of the week.  Fabric was bought at Joann’s.  Pattern provided by an etsy seller.  directions were clear and concise. 🙂

So I was told by Janice I needed to do a Sassy update.  (hi Phil).  Sassy is still not eating as much.  She’s barely eating and i think she’s lost more weight.  I talked to the vet about this on Monday and I was told to come pick up another appetite stimulant (in pill form) to try and see if that’ll get things moving.  i know this is not new…but does anyone realize how insane it is to give a pill to a cat that is REALLLLLLLLLLLLY good at spitting things out???  she is So good at it!!!  after multiple attempts (we’re talking like 10-12) to get that piece of a pill in her mouth, i finally just disolved it w/ some water, put it in a syringe and squirt it into her mouth.  she did NOT like that. 🙂  and it didn’t help much.  not sure if the water dissolving it hampered the effects.  I’ll try to give her another piece tomorrow…but she is catching on.  of course as I write all this, she’s laying on top of my hands as i type on the laptop…so cute.  how can you be mad at that??? 🙂  she’s being so kissy and sweet.   so anyway…we’re going to report back to the doctor by Friday.  it may be time for a 2nd opinion.

I have no FO’s for this week.  I do have some WIP’s.  I”m still working on the christmas stocking.  I finished the foot finally on Sunday.  I need to put in the beard, eyes and the lining.  i picked up some fabric for the lining yesterday. 🙂

lining w/ the stocking

i need to finish this off.  i had to rip out the foot 4 times b/c I don’t know how to read directions.   and i didn’t realize I had made a mistake until i started decreasing for the toe…each of the 4 times.  I’m truly very stupid.

I finished one baby bootie today.  I got an urge to do the pattern and I just rummaged around and found some sock yarn I want to use up. again….i did not read the directions as written and i started off differently than what the pattern called for.  Eh…the results are the same.  does the journey really matter? hahaha

booty-licious another view bottom of the bootie

i’ll finish the other bootie tomorrow and post up pics once im’ done.  I think this is a very cute little shoe! 🙂  someone at work asked me if these were for a Longhorn.  Nope.  I didn’t have anyone specific in mind when starting these…but giving them to a Longhorn isn’t a bad idea….

I did make a couple more bibs this week. 🙂  These bibs are fast and satisfying and crowd pleasers. 🙂

bibs i love this fabric! i love this fabric too!!

i’m getting better i think.hahaah.

i’m starting to get sleepy….i hope everyone has a good weekend!
