Call me a Lemming.
14th January 2007
I’ve decided to join the masses and do the Jaywalker sock.
i’ve always liked the pattern, but i think i kind of resisted it for a while b/c everyone was doing it.
So I found a link to a toe-up Jaywalker sock and i got a bit excited.
and inspired. I found some Regia Surf in my stash and got doubly inspiried.
So after being iced in last night and getting a little stir crazy…around 1am i thought “i’m going to cast on those jaywalkers.” Since i’m doing it toe-up…i’m doing a turkish cast-on and doing both socks at the same time. I really hate doing socks one at a time b/c they are NEVER the same length for me. that realllllllllly bothers me.
I started knitting around 145a…didn’t stop until about 4a. don’t ask me why i didn’t get sleepy or stop….i had a couple of LO: SVU eps on the tivo waiting to be watched, so i watched those as I did my socks. My plan was just to do the toe…but i went on a little further. and i think my toe is WAAAAAAAY too pointy. but it fits my foot just fine. But i started off w/ too few stitches. (stupid me) I was going to rip it back if it didn’t fit right..but it’s dandy.
So here is progression on what i have finished so far…
(If you cannot see the lightbox effect, there are captions that go w/ all the pics explaining what each phase is. :))
So yesterday Good Gurl Purl had a baby shower for her Diva Sister. It was alot of fun! We ate, laughed, scrapped (eek!) and opened presents. A bunch of us helped GGP make squares for her sister’s baby’s blanket. And GGP put them together SOOOO WELL!! IT was a beautiful blanket! When she opened it, i had forgotten that we had helped her make the squares. hahaha. duhh!
I didn’t get any reallly awesome pics of it from where i was standing…but here’s a peek.

AWWW!!! That is a good picture of the blanket. It’s hard to photograph because of the color. She loved the blanket! I can’t believe how cool it turned out and that no one did the same pattern. Your squares were faboo! Thank you so much for making Diva Sister’s shower special!

I’ve been meaning to knit up some Jaywalkers but having trouble finishing up current sock knits. Yours are looking good…I love the colour!

Okay — those toes are crazy-pointy! But if they fit, they fit. You made some serious progress on those. But I did read the following post and saw that you’re having some issues with them. Damn, sorry.
Diva Sister’s blanket came out awesome. I haven’t looked at my pictures, but I can’t imagine they came out any better (since we were standing next to each other).
Oh, and one more thing…
LEMMING!
(tee hee - I just had to)
